AGENTS of the Traffic Management Group of the Philippine National Police yesterday seized five luxury vehicles believed to have been stolen by the gang of three armed carjackers killed in a shootout with TMG operatives last November 7 in Pasig City.
TMG director Chief Supt. Augusto P. Angcanan Jr. said one of the vehicles was a 2004 model Nissan Patrol stolen by the suspects from the driver of ABS-CBN talent Iya Villania last November 6 in Quezon City.
The Nissan Patrol's license plate XPP-232 had been changed to XTS-481. A check showed that its motor and chassis numbers had also been altered.
The others were a red BMW ZR, two Mercedes Benzes and a BMW 530 I.

PNP chief Director General Arturo C. Lomibao commended Angcanan and the TMG Special Operations Group headed by Supt. Eduardo A. Bayangos for the recovery of the vehicles.
He also ordered Angcanan to investigate allegations that the source of the vehicles is a certain "Jayjhay de los Santos," said to be the relative of a hospital owner in Quezon City.
"I'm ordering a deep investigation into this case. Charges will be filed against those responsible for the car thefts regardless of their stature in society," Lomibao said.
He also ordered an inquiry into reports that stolen vehicles were being registered by the Valle Verde Boys with the help of some unscrupulous employees of the Land Transportation Office.
"We will include that in the investigation. We will coordinate with the LTO and other agencies of government but this will be done in a very confidential manner," Lomibao said.
Delos Santos, according to Bayangos, was tagged by Patrick Dominic Y. Tuzon, one of the two men arrested in an entrapment at a restaurant in Tomas Morato, Quezon City at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Tuzon, of 48 Dr. Lazcano Street, Diliman, was nabbed along with Maurice Y. Valenton, a resident of 42 F. Herrera St., Project 8, Quezon City.
Bayangos said they conducted the entrapment following a tip from an informant that Tuzon was selling a black Nissan Patrol with plate number XTS-481 for P850,000.
He said their asset alleged that the Nissan Patrol was the vehicle stolen at gunpoint from the driver of Villania in front of a bar along Mother Ignacia corner Sgt. Esguerra Avenue last November 6.
