Reasons:
- expensive cost of power generation using existing power plants (world's most expensive electric rates)
- expensive cost of power generation using renewable "green" sources (wind, solar, etc)
- safe nuclear power station designs available.

- alternatives to long term storage for nuclear waste is possible (using atomic alchemy)
- past nuclear accidents happened on very old nuclear stations including the 40 year old Fukushima nuclear power station. Most existing older stations have upgraded their systems to present safety standards.
