DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte wants the head – literally – of a car theft group leader victimizing residents of the city.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Duterte said he is willing to shell out P2 million for a live Rayan Cain Yu alias Baktin, leader of the city's notorious carnapping group.

However, he said it would be better if Yu would be presented dead before him, promising to double the bounty to P4 million. He said he would add another P1 million if Yu's severed head is packed in dry ice.

"Ngayon, kapag nadala ninyo ang ulo ni Rayan Yu dito sa akin na may dry ice, para hindi mabaho, magdagdag ako ng isang milyon so P5 million...no need to bring the body, bring me the head," said Duterte,

The vice mayor, who is also seeking to recapture his mayoralty post from his daughter Sara, said a reward of P50,000 is also awaiting those who will help in the arrest of the members of Yu's group.

He also clarified that he is sourcing the reward money from his own campaign fund.

Duterte was irked after learning that Yu was using the name of his son, Councilor Paolo Duterte, in smuggling luxury cars into the country.

He said even President Aquino, through Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, called his attention about the alleged smuggling activity.

"Tumawag si Mar Roxas sa akin kinausap siya ni presidente [at tinanong ako kung] 'totoo ba na ang anak mo si Pulong nagpapasok ng Hummer sa isang container van? I confronted my son sabi niya na wala ako niyan,'" he said.

Duterte warned those who seek to grab the bounty that Yu is heavily armed, and has connections with several government agencies such as the Land Transportation Office and the Philippine National Police – Highway Patrol Group.
