I've tried about a dozen CD-R King headphones and you know what, they all suck.
Tinny, artificial and muddy, all at the same time.
The cheapest headphones that I've tried that are at least decent were a pair from Philips. Bought it for 650. Had good bass but was noticeably unnatural. Though in the noise of the commute, the overactive bass is neutralized and it sounds a little more balanced.
Still doesn't compare to my Sennheiser PX100 though. I just love it. And actually, at 3k, it's still good value. It sounds more lively than some Bose headphones I've tried that cost upwards of 7k.
