Of course, cash payment is good but it is better to have a credit card. If you don't have a credit card, it's either you don't have a bank account of your own or still living with your payrent's money.
I never figured out why some have to insist on paying cash always. It's a big risk when you have to buy high price items. Just use a CC and settle it when you're billed. Even at my work place, we don't encourage people to settle in cash as they expose us to a high risk of cash loss/theft/robbery. A credit card is a finance tool if you manage it properly and settle at the end of the month. The discounts and rebates on items such as gasoline are quite helpful too.
Eto, another former office mate (single, no family to support) messaged us that he's selling some stuff from his "collection" to help pay off debts. Bumili ba naman ng Mirage at nag travel... When i would meet up with him and some former colleagues, they always talked about their expensive watches and stuff while i just kept myself happy with my Casio. Ayun, sakit tuloy ng ulo niya ngayon.
I also have another former colleague who was deep in credit card debt but kept buying branded whatevers (useless phones, watches, etc) because he had to keep up with the Joneses where he worked. Payabangan kasi yung culture (but honestly, from how i know that company since i deal with them and used to be in the same field, medyo bulok naman sila). When he got married, he invited all those from his current job even though he hated them, just to show off i guess. While some friends whom he grew up with, went to school with, and started out working with and may pinagsamahan kahit papaano, di-invited (myself included). Talk about misplaced priorities :lasing:

Open ka ng ATM account with minimum opening balance na 2K (BDO) may debit card kana. By the way your debit card is also your ATM card.
Nescafe Brown 3-1 lang.
Yun! Mismo. Mas madaling kumuha ng debit card kaysa sa credit card.
Ewan ko lang sa iba kung bakit mas gusto magbayad in cash eh mas convenient at safer ang credit card payment. Kapag may error or mis-charge eh mas madaling i-reklamo.

Re: Buying something which you cannot aford.
There's nothing wrong with owning a credit card as long as you pay for your balance in full. Spend only if you have the capacity to pay for the total amount once your bill comes in. These days having a card is almost a necessity, for example when you travel the hotel will require a credit card as it acts as a guarantee for the hotel. A credit card is also one of the references that you can use as proof of financial capacity. The biggest sin that people commit is to let their credit cards revolve. The interest will really eat you up.
Banks now are too aggressive in issuing credit cards. In the early 90s, credit card companies were very conscientious when it comes to membership. Then comes Citibank in the mid 90s issuing credit cards left and right. Now every tom, dick and harry has a credit card regardless of their capacity to pay. That's when sh1t happens.

This makes me feel so nostalgic! I remember as a child, people always brought a cheque book around. Blank cheques were the ultimate gifts back then. hehe.
