Can anyone provide a primer, tips & tricks, as well as red flags when choosing an ortho clinic and/or practitioner? I see prices all over the place.... some 75k, some half as much. As with everything in life, I'm pretty sure there have been horror stories to go with some procedures.
As such, I'm seeking enlightenment from folks who have gone through the exercise on how to go about this .... What questions to ask, what type of braces to use/avoid, what "add-ons" can or should I refuse, and what kind of post-procedure maintenance services should I expect?
I'm obviously just after a reasonable price, not the "artista" package.... if you know what I mean.

January 23rd, 2024 11:04 AM #2Had braces many years ago when I was still in college. Had too many teeth for my jaw kaya they had to take out 2 sa taas, & 2 sa baba. Nakakangilo when they tighten it every month. So during those times, soup or lugaw lang hehe. Had to avoid eating hard meat using the teeth as baka matanggal yung bracket. I was also prone to having singaw where the metal brackets were. As this was decades ago, there's probably advances in technology with braces for aesthetics & hopefully minimizing pain.

January 23rd, 2024 11:08 AM #3if you know someone in a school of dentistry, or your family dentist, you can ask their advice.
"where do you send your brace patients?"
dentists specialize, kasi. many times, they would rather send to the specialist, than do it themselves, even if they know how.

January 23rd, 2024 11:31 AM #4Braces cost between 80-120k. I just inquired from a few ortho dentists last month. Yeah... Middle aged person needing braces. Damn TMJ.
May invisible braces. Nasa upwards of 300k presyo.
Best starting point is to ask your dentist for referrals. Sure meron siya kilala from there pwede naman madaan sa usap. Usually its 50% dp + monthly fees during adjustment

I had braces in the 90s. Same with sirkosero, it's 50% down then payment every adjustment.
A red flag dentist is one that up sells I guess? For example cosmetic procedures. Also, a dentist na bunot ng bunot. Although like bugs, I also had a few teeth removed before I had my braces. My teeth weren't crooked naman, I just wanted it perfect. Now, it's moving again but I feel too old to wear bracesAlso, if it's too cheap, I think that's a red flag too.
Personally, I want a dentist whose surname is from a generation of dentists na rin kasi they have a "pangalan na inaalagaan"
Make sure that your child doesn't miss his or her appointments. If the braces are on too long, it will damage his or her teeth.

Naging issue lang ng daughter ko eh bigla lumipat ng branch yung dentist without advjcing her. Punta sya sa clinic pero sarado since nagbago Schedule ng new dentist. She missed a couple of weeks for adjustment.
Na realize ko lang na sa clinic pala ang patient at hindi sa dentist? Ako kasi doctor ko has multiple hospital and I follow him kahit saan hospital clinic nya. In this case my daughter stayed with the clinic.

January 24th, 2024 12:19 PM #7it depends on the relationship between the health practitioner and the facility he works in/for.
lookit the resibo.
does the resibo have the facility's name and TIN on it?
or does it have the health practitioner's name and TIN on it?
there's no law that prevents the patient from pursuing the health provider's tracks, in case the latter chooses to transfer his practice.
in the medical field, that's a common practice.

Eldest ko sa dentist na ng wife ko lumaki. Alaga sya nung dentist - from regular cleaning to his braces.
Recently - had his wisdom tooth removed.
Maganda talaga pag same dentist na nakalakihan ng bata.
