With water shortage looming come summer next year, I've decided to prep this early since this time of year is low season for us anyway. All my previous pressure tank setups were the old SS pressure tank primed by a bigger SS/polyethylene storage tank. Worked well but with bladder tanks now locally available, I'm trying to decide if I should go with this relatively newer technology.
My plan is to hook up the bladder tank to a primer storage tank and hook it up to the 5 HP air compressor I already have. Gonna attach a regulator of course.
I'm just wondering why some local suppliers are using water pumps with these bladder tanks. Can they be primed just from the storage tank? Or do they really need a water pump?
To anyone who has a bladder tank setup, how long has the system held up for you? Any issues over the years?

Have been using WellMate Bladder type pressure tanks for years. They function like regular SS pressure tanks but better as the bladder holds air longer. Pump trigger intervals are more consistent. Bladder pressure checks are far between. Hassle-free.

I see. So no air compressor needed but I still need to get another water pump. 😖
Some concern about the durability of the bladder though. Am doubtful that rubber part will last as long as the old school pressure tanks.
Will check prices but if too close, will probably go with the old school setup again.
Thanks travs!

Choose reputable brands. WellMate is has been more durable than the local SS tanks we've seen...failure always seemed at the seams. Water in bladder tanks doesn't come in contact w/ the tank wall, eliminating internal wall corrosion. Pump life expectancy would also be lengthened by pump cycle reduction. I'll never go back to single compartment SS pressure tanks.

Just shot an inquiry at the only seller I could find bro. Hopefully not too far off vs the cheaper powder coated ones. These are the fiberglass type I presume?
I suppose given our humidity the air in the SS tanks will still corrode them after some time... If only they made 316L tanks. In our area Manila Water supply is still pretty hard.

Yup, WellMate bladder has the FRP shell. Marine 316? You can have them custom made, but I'd still opt a good bladder. Never going back.[emoji4]
Speaking of water hardness, yours can't be as hard as this island here of limestone bedrock.[emoji37]
