Bayo to junk mixed-race campaign
MANILA, Philippines – Women’s fashion brand Bayo is set to replace its newly launched ad campaign after it drew flak for directly promoting mixed-race models.
Lyn Agustin, Bayo’s vice president for product research and development, said they will prepare a “better and more sensitive campaign” following the backlash it received over the “What’s Your Mix?” ads, which featured models with labels such as “50% Australian and 50% Filipino.”
She also apologized on behalf of the company for “offending some sectors.”
“We are very sorry that the campaign unintentionally offended people,” Agustin told ABS-CBNnews.com. “We are going to prepare a better and more sensitive campaign, more sensitive to the big issues.”
She added that the “What’s Your Mix?” ads, which are still displayed in Bayo boutiques nationwide, will be taken down as they come up with a new concept for their campaign.
“Yes, we’ll bring them down immediately,” she said.
Agustin stressed that contrary to what most Filipinos expressed online, the true aim of Bayo’s “What’s Your Mix?” campaign is to promote Filipino heritage as well as a person’s uniqueness.
She did not mention the name of the agency behind the controversial campaign.
Several Filipinos turned to blogs and social networking sites this week to say that Bayo’s new campaign was “demeaning.”
Others, meanwhile, said the ad suggests that those who are 100% Filipino are inferior to their mixed race counterparts.

"call it biased... diff nationalities with pinoy blood is almost a sure... blahblahblah" what utter nonsense! race and runway? genes and jeans?
whose account is this? by the sound of it, must be the grey ad agency. but i bet mccann world group or an affiliate could've been responsible
hey 'bayo' try the word "dynamism" as in
"it's fashionable to have the freedom to combine and blend together anything you like. personalisation is everything and it is what defines you. your vogue to be dynamic is your right and we celebrate that and we celebrate you... blahblahblah" or something like that.

Nonsense naman yung mga nagproprotesta,
masyadong nagpapaapekto sa mga marketing gimik,
nasa isip lang ng tao yan.
ambabaw.
i think that ad is very effective,
sa kakaprotesta ng iba,
kung san san na-post yung topic, sa dyaryo, sa tv, sa mga forums umabot pa,
nakilala pa lalo ang bayo.
oh dba.
walang talo.
