Max Confirmed to Launch in Seven Asian Territories in November

Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed that its streaming service Max will launch in seven territories in Southeast Asia next month.

From Nov. 19, it will be available in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand as well as Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Max will offer a choice of different plans. Full details about pricing will be announced in the coming weeks and will vary by country and provider. Mobile-only plans will be available in Indonesia and the Philippines, and via select providers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.

WBD currently operates a stopgap HBO Go streaming service in parts of East Asia. Max represents both a better technology platform and a wider content offering.

Max is already available in the Philippines and with discounts to boot. If you pay annually, you get more than 40% off compared to paying monthly. For instance, the Ultimate plan is ₱399 a month (total of ₱4,788 for a year), but paying it annually up front is only ₱2,790.

I've signed up and here's what I can confirm:

    • Available content now: HBO, Warner Brothers, Discovery, Cartoon Network, HGTV, Food Network, Asian Food Network, ID (Investigation Discovery - crime stuff), DC (Superman, Batman, Justice League, etc), Harry Potter franchise, TLC
    • 4k resolution, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, HDR10 (obviously not available for all programs/movies)

Sulit ba? For me, it is. While HBO Go had shit video quality and only had HBO programs, Max is up to 4k plus Dolby Vision + Atmos and includes a far larger library of content. Compared to Disney+ or Apple TV, Max, to me, is a better deal.

I subscribed the other day. Yung annual na Ultimate yung kinuha ko due to the huge discount and availability of 4K. Di ko kasi feel panoorin most ng mga content sa Netflix and Disney+ naman napakamahal.
