El Gamma Penumbra, Gerphil Flores enter ‘Asia’s Got Talent’ finals

CEBU, Philippines - Shadow play dancers El Gamma Penumbra earned another Golden Buzzer to earn an outright finals berth in AXN’s “Asia’s Got Talent” held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
In the semifinal round of the popular talent competition that aired Thursday, the group made good on their manager’s promise to make people cry with another stunning performance anchored on the theme of world peace.
Indonesian singer-songwriter Anggun, the judge who pressed the Golden Buzzer that had sent them to the semifinals, was teary-eyed after their performance.
“I’m extremely moved by what I just saw, it was really emotional and you made me feel proud and I’m sure you made Filipinos proud. Thank you, that was flawless,” she exclaimed.
Fellow judges Van Ness Wu who gave the group a standing ovation along with Anggun, was also impressed and called them “amazing” while Melanie C conceded that their number was even better than their show-stopping audition piece.
But the best remark of the night came from the most hard-to-please judge of all, David Foster.
Freeman ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch:
“I just want to say, I live in a box where I make music in the studio and tonight, I get to come out of my box and I get to see something that was so, so moving and magical. It’s just amazing,” Foster remarked.
Following the judges’ comments, the group was asked by hosts Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez about their thoughts.
“Even in our wildest dreams we still cannot believe we can get here at this moment. We are just happy that we can get this far,” one of the members tearfully replied.
It was a wonderful night for the Philippine representatives as aside from El Gamma Penumbra, soprano singer Gerphil Geraldine Flores was also voted into the finals by fans.
Earlier, 10-year old singer Gwyneth Dorado and multi-genre dance group, Junior New System, likewise advanced in the competition through public vote and Golden Buzzer, respectively.
Seven finalists have been named so far, and four of them are Filipinos. The grand finals of “Asia’s Got Talent” will take place on May 7 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and will air on AXN the same day. The results show where the first ever winner will be announced will take place the following week, May 14. – InterAksyon.com (FREEMAN)

MANILA - "I promise you, the world is going to know about you."
These were the words of Grammy-winning composer David Foster for his "golden girl," Filipino singer Gerphil Flores, who once again had all four judges of "Asia's Got Talent" on their feet in the grand finals of the talent search on Thursday.
For her finals performance, the 24-year-old music student gave a soaring rendition of the "The Impossible Dream (The Quest)" -- a song that echoes her aspiration to revive interest in classical music and showcase her talent to a wider audience.
Standing on a pedestal and backed by a choir midway through the number, Flores hit high notes that had Foster cheering and later "emotional," according to host Marc Nelson.
In the auditions, Foster used his one-time opportunity to use the "golden buzzer" for Flores, securing her a spot in the semifinals.
"My golden girl," Foster said, "Tonight, the song was called 'The Impossible Dream.' You just made the dream possible. You absolutely nailed it."
"I promise you, I promise you, the world is going to know about you. That's a promise," added Foster, who mentored and helped launch the international career of Filipino singing sensation Charice.
'Who are you?'
Judge Anggun, who previously hailed the Filipina as a "diva, in the true meaning of the word," said Flores once againt met her expectations. "That high note! It was amazing," she added. "You shined up there. You were already a beautiful girl, but tonight, you were magnificent."
Flores, who finished in the semifinals of ABS-CBN's "Pilipinas Got Talent" in 2010, once again convinced judge Melanie C of the Spice Girls fame that she belongs on the world stage.
"You were magnificent," she told Flores. "You heard the reaction in here tonight. To see the transformation you've made since the auditions, it's an absolute pleasure. Congratulations to you."
Vanness Wu, popularly known to Filipinos as one-fourth of F4, similarly commended Flores' growth over the competition.
"Who are you?" he quipped. "When we first saw you, you were a shy, little girl, and you commanded the stage tonight. You literally took over and just said, 'Everybody, look at me, look what I can do.' Great job!
Aside from Flores, eight other acts performed in the grand finals of "Asia's Got Talent," including fellow Filipinos Gwyneth Dorado, El Gamma Penumbra and Junior New System.
The winner of the pan-regional talent search will be announced next Thursday.Last edited by Monseratto; May 8th, 2015 at 10:38 AM.

parang bitin yung routine ng jns kagabi, and al gamma on the other hand touched on something that everyone can relate to. el gamma now is leading both gherphil and jns by more than 25% of likes in fb. if this shows how the votes will go then el gamma na yan talaga.Last edited by yebo; May 8th, 2015 at 11:11 AM.
