Woodfire, what kind of paint are you using for your stang? Are you going to simulate period style paint or are you doing something more contemporary.
just realized that your previous restorer made you waste having to paint it since part of the process will be repeated.
also, did was that previous restorer working at restoring other cars as well? or when you took your car out was he working on anything else for others? kasi if you had that bad an experience medyo kawawa naman yung iba na nagpapagawa dun.

1) Dupont - same color, i.e., Apple Candy Red with white GT stripes in the rocker panel.
2) Yes, it has been a waste...oh well, I could have really wrecked havoc his life but as it is, it's already in **** land- heart ailment etc... so i'll let it go for now.
3) The son-of-a-gun restorer is retired because of his heart ailment.

1) "alon" (uneven panel surface)
2) bubbles caused by too much putty in the quarter rear panels, hood, and trunk
3) a shade bit darker than the real spec of "apple candy red" color
4) uneven, and out-of-spec door alignment, hood alignment, and trunk alignment. It has to be perfect!!!
5) if observed closely, you can see some uneven paint spray particularly in the lower portion of the fenders and quarter panels
6) a lot of small things that add up ...
HOW WE OBSERVED IT: I bought a 150 watt halogen spot lamp with stand and closely observed the panels, hoods, under hood, underchassis, etc... While inspecting, a "punch list" is being recorded on all imperfections no matter how small it is.

very interesting. Thanks for enlightening us.
with your story it seems that the bulacan restorer and his cohorts were either:
1. ill-equiped to handle the restoration. lacking the proper tools or the know-how to work on a "show winner" or even a decent restoration. would the cars being restored in bulacan exhibit this?
2. out there to simply not do a "good" job in the first place. It was as you said a long time (2 years?) and they merely did a cover-up job? hiding things behind masilya that would only manifest itself after you take the car home. and in this case it didnt even make it to that stage.
who knows what the real reason was. however, these are merely questions to shed light on the topic.
its good to see that you are on the way to a "show" car. baka we can have comparison pics of how the previously recommended restorer in bulacan did it vs. the current restorer. so we can learn a thing or two. because most of us are really not experts here but mere musclecar fans with day jobs.
all the best on your restoration woodfire. we look forward to your wicked rideLast edited by midinite; January 27th, 2007 at 05:52 PM. Reason: typos

Nice to see the muscle car threads alive and well... *hint hint mga mods*
Huwow, any imperfection noted, may spotlight pa... show car talaga sir woodfire!Pansin ko lang parang gloss white ang ibang panels nyo... is that to see the imperfections? Kasi, experience ko lang, darker color ang gamit para lumabas... just wondering sir.
OT: Sir bwn: Sori for late reply, been busy e. Bandit is painted and looks good in the garage, kahit walang salamin... wahehehe...
Stop muna restoration kasi have to find budget somehow, biglang may mga unforeseen expenses in other areas of my life e... Nakow ang hirap kumita!

OT:
RE insurance, it was discussed in a previous thread that no insurance company would accept these cars. Which makes me wonder because our old w114 in the province is currently insured, of course that model's 10 years or so younger, so it may not apply to american muscle. I shudder to think of some careless jeep ramming into something you have spent so much time, effort and money on, only to have the erring jeepney driver scratch his head and say "wala akong pambayad, 8 po anak ko blah blah blah".
BTTT:
Any updates sir? Would love to see how alex restoration is faring

Hi Chip,
The body work and prepping is all done. It's scheduled to be painted (apple candy red) this week until Saturday.
I reckon the interior work will start next week. I'll take pics this Saturday and post it here!
