Mazda trademarks CX-20 name in PH. Could it be a new small crossover? | TopGear PH
the future of the CX-20 will all depend on Mazda pushing through with the production and development of the car or not. The company already makes models such as the CX-30, CX-50, CX-60 and CX-90, so the idea of a CX-20 isnt far-fetched. Either way, Mazda has rights to that name, so its likely that the company is giving it serious thought.

May 30th, 2023 10:55 AM #3Mazda is releasing the new CX60 locally on 9 June. I read from autoindustriya that it will be likely the 3.3 inline 6 diesel turbo, hopefully the 3.3L inline 6 turbo petrol will be part of the release also.
Thinking of getting this as Im not into 3 rows. Any thoughts / inputs and which one would be a better option if both will be release?

Kung tataya at manalo ako sa lotto, parang magandang alternative ito sa Lexus at BMW na entry level. I6 + RWD. Rare combo.

June 10th, 2023 01:16 PM #5Gas is definitely more reliable. Mazda skyactiv diesel has issues with head gaskets and oil dilution caused by incomplete DPF (diesel particulate filter) regen or burn.
No idea if they solved it already but this was widely prevalent in Thailand and Taiwan where the diesel variant was sold in numbers. Thai cx-5 diesel owners even filed a class-action lawsuit against the carmaker. Taiwan Mazda already stopped selling the diesel variant due to the same issue, but gave out replacement engines to affected diesel owners even post-warranty.
Long story short, avoid diesel engines with DPFs as much as you can.

Euro6 DPF has been the root cause of diesel problems...not just Mazda. If only manufacturers skipped these maintenance-hog filters on markets that aren't euro6 compliant, those engines would've been as reliable as any other jurassic oil burner.
That said, the petrol variant would be the easy better choice here.
Personally, I feel modern cars w/ all the electronic nannies & hybrid tech are just not meant for really long-term ownership that would earn them the 'classic' status. Those days are long gone. Full EVs would be much easier to live w/.

Imo, mas okay pa hybrid kaysa euro6 diesel with dpf. Naturally aspirated gasoline needs little maintenance: no expensive fuel pump, injectors, turbocharger, intercooler, egr, dpf, scr, etc etc. Even less stressed pa dahil less running hours since naka EV mode ito half of the time. Battery naman sa katagalan magmumura din yan, sa US marami na marunong mag replace ng individual defective cells, no need to replace whole battery pack.

Wish MazdaPh can demand Hofu to spec PhDM vehicles differently...w/o iStop & DPF. Guess our market will never have the numbers to justify retooling cost.
Still, the 60 comes pretty enticing w/ i6, RWD, driver-centricity, reliability, pricing, lower ownership cost & YOJIN vs euro premiums.

Rhodium white is really nice with the black interior. Wife is now trying to convince me to put the reservation [emoji28]
