One option is to pass by Rizal after Laguna. Good roads but you'll end up passing by via QC as well.
The other way is from Camarines Norte go through Quezon, then Aurora, Nueva Ecija out Pampanga.

Sorry, your left only with the Laguna-Rizal route via Siniloan going Tanay, Baras, Marikina and so forth..

Wala namang passable road na nag connect straight from Quezon Province to Aurora Province.
If this is your first time to drive past Candelaria, Quezon, prepare for the on-going road construction work from Pagbilao to Naga City, from Naga City to Legaspi, Albay, smooth driving na. For road trip, travel in the day time but prepare for the traffic and day time heat. Night driving naman, delikado sa mga first timer due to bad roads, you cannot speed up.

Masarap din mag road trip sa south, you can visit Cagsawa ruins, Mt Mayon Observatory sa Albay, and the Watersports Park sa Naga City. Or if you want extreme, you can visit Caramoan island group, all of this will depend on your budget. The Andaya (old Osmena) Highway is a good sight seeing highway if not for the on going road repairs. Passing the EME (bitukang manok) road between Pagbilao and Atimonan is also a good first time driving experience.
Dont discourage yourself because of the traffic, its manageable naman not unlike the Metro Manila traffic. My only advise is plan your trip well it will save you money. Get a road map or if your budget permits buy a Garmin GPS with loaded Philippine roadmap.
This is the perfect time to drive to the south, as the north is hotter than the south during this month.
