October 5th, 2009 11:54 PM #1I plan to go on a road trip to Naga...
Obviously you drive all the way to the Calamba exit and turn left at the intersection in Sto. Tomas to head for Quezon and the Bicol region...
How are the roads nowadays? Should a SUV be required? Will a car take it?? How long would such a drive usually take and factor in the usual stops for food and bathroom???

Mga 8 hours ang trip, a car can take it pero mas maganda at mabilis kung SUV syempre. Not updated with the roads recently, last time ko byahe worst condition ay yung quirino hi-way (Sta-elena/tagkawayan). Daming bitak-bitak yung hi-way at malalim na lubak.

Was just here last week. Yup, kaya naman ng Lancer kung hindi fully loaded. Just go a bit slower so you can brake in time to avoid bad patches. There are a lot of them.
A word of advice, look out for buses. Try not to travel within their usual travel period. They will overtake you at turns and occasionally try to run you off the road if overtaking from the opposite direction. If you think buses on EDSA are bad, these guys are much worse. Daming sira ulong bus driver dito.
