Advaced HAPPY NEW YEAR TOO!! Nice to know you're back here again to enjoy your Carens..Panay road trip ata..hehehe..
Wala naman ibang abnormal sound akong naririnig. Most likely hindi nga ito EGR. Pacheck kong mabuti and might also consider updating our Carens' software kung available na siya sa iban casa...

Guys, saan pala nakakabili ng lug nut? nakabili ako ng alloy rim for my kia carens, problem is yung stock na lug nut di kakasya sa butas, so i need yung maliit ng konti, also alam nyo ba ang size ng lug nut ng carens natin? i mean yung thread nya, or is it universal (same size ang lahat ng car)?
, TIA

January 7th, 2010 02:41 PM #3627actually, I asked that question sa dealer ko when I was choosing between the carens and sportage (identical counterpart of the tucson) way back in 2007. the answer was simple marketing strategy -- both the diesel variant of carens and sportage have 2.0 CRDi engines but only the carens has VGT, and why not VGT on the sportage/tucson? so as not to compete head-on with the Sta. Fe which has the 2.2 CRDi VGT engine. in the same way, the sportage would not compete head-on with the carens and now the new sorento which has a new 2.2 CRDI eVGT engine (same as the Sta. Fe, i guess).

January 7th, 2010 02:52 PM #3628funny, this similar behavior is being experienced by our company vehicle, the new Grand Starex with a 2.5 CRDi VGT engine. nadadalas din ang parang loss of power, which can be resolved by going into "manual" mode.
we have so many times had it serviced at Hyundai The Fort but still the van experienced power loss or sudden stops!

hmm... maybe in 2007 it is primarily because of "marketing strategy" as in to protect sales of other models. but now, i think it has a lot to do with "pricing". the soul, as it is, is already way way overpriced imagine 1.3M for a gas variant, this in itself is a 'hard sell' already. For 1.3M one can but a lancer ex, a ford focus tdci may sukli pa. add a little and a subaru can be had. heck even the entry level variant of hyundai genesis coupe is a better use of 1.3M
so if 1.3M for gas is a hard sell, a crdi variant for 1.5M is even harder. what with a more competitive pricing for the new tucson.
Columbian Autocorp's pricing scheme for Kia here in RP is just rediculous, it is killing the Kia brand here.
If HARI can offer a competitive pricing for Hyundai vehicles here why can't Columbia?

January 7th, 2010 04:53 PM #3630hi all,
Rear Spoiler DIY....(ok i have to admit pintura eh sa ibang shop)
yung installation eh madali lang...just use generous amount of 3M double-sided tape and ur ready to go....
i figure na may bubong naman ang parking ko, so this should easily last for about 5years before the tape loses its adhesion....
Material:
** rear spoiler for Carens....China imitation made of fiberglass. cost < Php3K.
** paint: some paintshop in Laguna Php1K.
** double sided tape. Php120.
Procedure:
**after its painted....clean the underside and paste the doublesided tape along its periphery.....
** to prep the car...also wipe clean the surface to be attached to....
so for around Php4K i have new spoiler for my Carens....haha. enjoy.
[Rear view - overall]
[Side view - overall]
[Side view - close-up]
Gains:
** in terms of Aesthetics, i think its improved the rear-end somewhat....i like it....
** in terms of aerodynamics...tested it to 195kph, it seemed more stable. but that's just my gutt feeling. don't know for sure how much downforce it actually generates at that speed without the aid of wind tunnel testing....
over-all satisfied with this MOD!
