March 30th, 2009 09:00 PM #3131Hi, personally, I wouldnt go for this setup. Watch those rubber door mouldings, crimped na sya. This would cause water to go inside your doors and if not noticed, rust would begin to set in.
I had this setup before with my crosswind, same gutterless mount, thule foot racks etc....kinalawang yung upper door frame.
Buti na lang naibenta ko na. Better ung may built-in roof racks, then just buy the crossbars and carrier/bikecarrier. Although 25-30kgs lang ata ang max recommended weight for this built-in roof racks.
While the gutter/gutterless mounts can exceed 100kgs of weight.
Looks great, but merong limitations.
just my 2cents.

March 31st, 2009 07:16 PM #3134hi guys hirap magback read....209 pages na.... ive been reading this thread from time to time (although not all pages i skipped some sa dami talaga) because of my recent acquisition of an almost new KIA CARENS LX A/T CRDi....
to make the long story short, last year we bought a used 05 mits. montero sport 2.8 TDIC a/t from an auto exchange dealer, and we had a very bad experience with its matic tranny... vibrations, abnormal shifting, shuddering, lockup gears, etc. resulting to a complete rebuild but to no avail (meron pa rin tama).... wala na sya warranty saka mukhang pitik talaga mileage nya... so almost 1 (one) year kami nag-suffer sa labas pasok ng oto sa casa, independent shops, sa dealer ulit (para ibenta na) etc... damned if u sell (nobody wants to buy kasi sira)and damned if u use (baka tumirik saka matatakot ka sa abnormal shifting)... so compromise na lang nakita ko yung 08 kia carens na binebenta ng dealer who sold us the montero in the 1st place, and agreed for a trade-in (sobra lugi na kami sa montero kasi bumaba na ng 150k ang value nya since we bought it last year tapos we spent over 100k na sa rebuild and other repairs tapos 3 months lang halos nagamit dahil lagi sira).... so dagdag pa kami ng kaunti for the trade-in kasi 800k gusto ng dealer dun sa carens. we had to oblige kasi talagang di mo mapakinabangan yung montero namin.
anyway despite the bad experience and total ripoff done to us by the dealer, im very happy in choosing the 08 carens crdi lx a/t (volcanic red color) to replace our montero sport... although it already has 18tkm mileage, it still has 2 years to go on the warranty and all servicing records are intact (with receipts from kia new mla),and it still looks brand new in and out (visors, switches, etc still have plastic covering). im glad the previous owner kept all servicing done at the casa, and even installed orig foglamps at the dealer just recently... also it already has upgraded 15" Advanti racing mags. this is why i chose this vehicle over the other units available at the auto exchange (this is the newest one they had, its close to the trade-in price, and it still has the all-important warranty).
so far, im very happy with the acceleration and driving performance. Much more torque and power than the 05 montero sport (125hp, 292 NM torque vs. carens 138 hp, 305 NM torque)... you could literally feel the rush and forward momentum of the carens. plus gas mileage /f.c. is good considering i only got 6km/l with the montero (city), and now 8-9 km/l with the carens. it really handles much like my 02 honda crv 2.0 i-vtec(gen2)... carlike handling...good interior space... SUV looks...but with a faster acceleration speed from 50 km/h to 100 km/h... very satisfiying overtaking power. the only thing im not happy is the back cargo area, even with the 3rd row folded flat on the floor its still not as roomy as my old crv or the montero sport (like most of you i have lots of gear to haul with 2 kids plus relatives who ride with me). also the ground clearance is really bad as it sometimes scrapes our driveway or other parking areas.
i only have two major concerns: 1) i think some of the outside air (smoke and etc) sometimes go inside the cabin even with the recirc button in correct mode; 2) rear disc brakes might need replacement... noticed deep grooves in the discs, probably the previous owner drove it fast most of the time??? hehehe... i know why cuz im also driving it fast due to its addictive acceleration.
so there hope you're not bored with the long story... but so far so good with my Carens. Im looking forward to 20tkms so i can bring it in to the dealer for a PMS. Im also surprised to learn that my particular unit costs 1.185M right now if you buy brand new... tsktsk... grabe pricing nila... kaya pala mahal kahit second hand...
eto pics of my Carens:

Example:
1. Trade-in - bulok na Toyota Corolla..trade-in-value daw sabi ng Columbia P200,000 pesos..talagang value is P125,000.

No, they did not drill the roof. They clamp it on the sides. Thule is located along Ortigas ave. If you are coming from Gilmore, it's on the right after Chinabank and opposite BPI, and just before the stoplight on going to the Greenhills commercial center. The base is really for the Carens model.
As expected, in response to Tesla’s entry into the Philippines market, Ford will be bringing in the...
