2010 Jaguar XKR
-Netcarshow
The new XKs are powered by Jaguar's new AJ-V8 Gen III 5.0-litre V8 engines.
The XKR's supercharged 5.0 liter V8 produces 510 PS & 461 lb-ft (625 Nm) of torque, while the naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V8 of the standard XK makes 385 PS & 380 lb-ft (515 Nm) of torque.
Jaguar's new V8 engines feature SGDI (spray-guided direct injection) and DIVCT (dual independent variable cam timing) to improve performance, economy and reduce emissions.
The new XK models also features Jaguar's "JaguarDrive Selector".
0-60 mph acceleration for the standard XK is reduced to 5.2 sec (from 5.9 sec) while the XKR's 0-60 mph acceleration is reduced to 4.6 sec (from 4.9 sec).
The new XK comes in 3 models: XK, XK Portfolio & XKR.

This Jaguar is made at Jaguar's plant in England.
Its just a change of ownership (Ford to Tata), Jaguar is still Jaguar. They have their own plant and engineers in England.
Regarding the engines and new technology....
As part of the overall sale agreement between Ford and Tata Motors, Ford will continue to supply Jaguar and Land Rover with engines, stampings and technology, including a range of environmental technologies.
PS: Jaguar's AJ-V6 (X-type, XF) is a modified Ford Duratec V6, while the lower end gasoline Land Rover Discovery 3 uses a retuned version of Ford's SOHC 4.0 liter Cologne V6 engine.
The Jaguar/LR AJ-V8 is not based on Ford's Modular V8.

April 17th, 2009 08:41 PM #10Ah ok. Thanks. Good to know. But are there a few Astons and Lambos out there on the roads?
I'm very tempted with the new Jag XK, R8 and 911. Not quite sure on the looks of the SL and M6. But I think the Jag would be best for my parents. All they need is a car to use for his business trips there.
