Hi everyone,
Im newbie in this forum, kaka-registered kolang, i recently bought a trooper 2002 model LS with 4jx1 TC engine, nabasa ko ang mga thread dito and I started to get worried about my trooper, Jan 3 2011 nung mabili ko sa isang private dealer, the car condition is great, actually nasubukan konarin in uphill sa Mt. Samat without todo apak sa pedal i can feel talaga ang power nya and working great,,, yet till i read about the horrible issue and the recall of 4jx1,. my question is, untill now ba may problema parin yung injector or any other problems? inspite of the fact na 2002 pa yung year ng trooper so i just thinking na baka yung 1st owner ay na ipaayos na dun sa recall yung mga dapat na palitan/ayusin. yung kasing dealer wala sa kanya yung maintenance record so no idea ako.
Anybody can make comments are verymuch welcome, thanks...

Fist, CONGRATULATIONS on the purchase!
As to your query. well, you just said that the Trooper is performing great, right? Then so be it. We must face the reality that it may be a fact that some of our friends had some problem with their Trooper but you an I and others don't. Let's leave it at that.
Just enjoy using your Trooper and don't let anxiety get in the way. Just follow the recommended PMS schedule and you greatly reduce incidents of failure.

Mt. Samat. been there! Burned my brakes there. Hahaha. Naka 90 kph ako sa isang uphill dyan. Ka convoy ko ang isang GS and altis namin way back '08.
Just follow the correct PMS just like sir benzmizer said.
and dont forget to use 5w-30 oil. Either Besco or Royal Purple.
If meron dyan, pa transteck mo narin ang transmission para fresh ang mga fluids pati narin ang axle oil. dont forget LSD yan ha.

You're welcome. In behalf of SQ and the rest of the guys here with Troopers, WELCOME!
PMS is every 5,000 kms or 3 months, whichever comes first. Since you have no records to support you Trooper's maintenance history, I would suggest you perform a thorough check (yes, including change oil) of your Trooper and use that date of PMS as your Trooper's "0" mileage. start counting 5,000 kms. from that date.

Thank you guys for the welcome,
As reading he thread for the PMS i found quite costly, for me as mid class. advise me mga sir.... i am planning to do it gradually,, like to start it by changing coolant first which i think is more costless thang changing of engine oil or changing at the same time, then changing of engine oil/filter unpon or before reaching 5th km, is this a good idea? pls advise, thanks.

October 25th, 2012 11:42 PM #8Hi Sir Benzmizer!
How are you, sir? I have been reading most of the topics here about Isuzu Trooper especially regarding the 'dreaded' 4jx1 engine. I am a new owner (about 4 months) of a second hand Isuzu Trooper 2002 model. Never had a chance to get into the books or reviews before I purchased the unit due to the fact that it has been my dream to acquire one and I was so thrilled to ever get one that I can claim my own. Upon reading all the comments...I mean bad comments...re 4jx1 engine, my good mood had shifted from being satisfied to being worried that one of these days, on cruising the highways or climbing up the hills going to Baguio or Subic, my troop would just stall and die. So far I am not experiencing any injector problems yet but I got concerned when one of the members here said it can happen at the time when you least expect it. I was planning to travel to Hundred Islands in Pangasinan next week for the long weekend but those words I read from this forum scared me to death and made me nervous especially when tagging a family along with you. Just imagine the hustle and bustle of being stuck somewhere. I missed to ask the ex-owner of the car if the injector had been replaced or if there has been any major engine trouble during the years of this car being driven around. Worst, I could not remember his phone number. Lost it! He lives in Manila and I am from Angeles City. I have put in about 5k kms to it since the purchase and I am close to the 100k mark odo which follows an oil change. Should I go and schedule a PMS as well? What does a complete PMS cost? And what's in the package? Please help! And oh by the way, I am new here in Tsikot. God bless and more power!

October 26th, 2012 08:07 PM #10Hi Sir Brian!
I do appreciate your time replying quickly to my query. This helps a lot. I will do just what you said. The nearest Isuzu dealer from where I am is in San Fernando, Pampanga. Thanks so much! One more thing...do you know of a mechanic who is an expert with Isuzu Troopers around Angeles City or nearby? Thanks again!
