Sir, based on the brochure LX has 4JJ1 DDI Iteq engine so that's already Common Rail engine. Regarding to break in, they said that modern engines need no break in anymore. For sure they have already broke those in plants or in transit from plant to dealer. But if you still want, just make sure to avoid jack rabbit movements. Also, keep your RPM at 3k max though you could do some surge from time to time. For example, try doing 140 kph then back to 100 kph, then 130 then 100 kph, like that.
I suppose the LT is the older engine and between the 2, I would choose the newer. The Iteq is a newer engine so it's more sensitive to fuel quality. Make sure you choose your gasoline stations wisely. Maintenance? I have no idea with LT but with LX, since it shares the same engine as LS (4x2 LS Iteq is what I have), it's not really expensive unless there are other repairs needed. Durability between the two, I have no idea yet since mine also has clocked almost 75k kms and so far I haven't experienced major problems with it.
Fuel consumption, gasoline stations that produced the best results for me are Petron and SeaOil but since I don't feel much difference between the two, I chose SeaOil since they are cheaper and they said that their diesel is Euro 4 though I am not certain on that. Even the performance, almost the same. Shell particularly the Fuel Save, never really liked it.
The Iteq engine isn't the strongest in the pickup segment but it has enough power to do the work needed. And it's a pickup so it's not intended for racing. But if you wanna go fast, I have reached 175 kph max.
