Mine is a 2005. I did replace my injectors when it was around 20,000 kms --- never did since. If (assuming) the '05 Trooper you're looking at have the said "modified injectors" already, you're likely safe.
Of course, should be CASA-maintained reflected in its Maintenance Booklet.

I like the question.
I still believe that for as long as the engine is well maintained;
Its not gonna give you any major problem at all.
I've gone thru both 4JG2 and 4JX1 and up to now; has not given me any headaches.
Secondly, I really like the 2005 look (Interior and exterior looks really elegant) more than any newer models in the market now.
