First of, do leatherette material have a white gauze-like material (sometimes with foam) underneath it?

So far, I searched the forum and I found some scattered advise in several "leatherette seat cover" threads. Hopefully this thread, will directly address the issue on how to properly care for vinyl/leatherette seat covers.

Yes, it is not as a good as leather (in fact they are incomparable). I'd like to hear your unbiased way/method in the proper way of taking care/maintaining and cleaning of this type of material, to help avoid the common pitfalls on this type of material (premature peeling, cracking, etc..).

So I read from other threads that....

1.) Water can affect/damage the supposed "clear coat" of the material.
2.) Leather cleaners and moisturizers (which are all chemical-based) are a big no-no. Vinyl cleaners included.
3.) Wiping the material with a dry cloth is the best method.
