April 17th, 2007 10:28 AM #1mga bosing. sometimes my starex A/T easily shifts from 1st gear to 4th. there are times however that its having difficulty in shifting. As a result parang hirap ang engine. i had it serviced at hyundai makati about two months ago and they subjected it to a computer analysis. they found nothing wrong with the transmission or the engine. Mga boss, can you give me any idea regarding the possible problem? thanks.

interesting problem... paki share nalang po kung na solve na ang problem..
I can only think of ATF having different temperature. baka medyo overfilled or medyo starved... check na lang manuals of right way to measure atf... consider when did you measure the engine.. after running for many hours ba? or early morning mo na measure?Last edited by rion; April 18th, 2007 at 04:09 PM.

Have you observed if it occurs intermittently or is there a pattern (length of driving time, temperature, etc...)? Has the ATF been changed regularly according to schedule? What model is the Starex (usually the ones i've heard that had problems with the tranny were the first models AFAIK)...

April 19th, 2007 10:51 AM #5Its a 2002 club series. the problem is still there. the 1st to 4th gear refers to the D. sorry for that one. what puzzles me is that when i turn on the engine and drive, there are times that the shifting pattern is okay (20kph,40,60,80 then at aroung 85 the turbo)all the way till i turn it off. again when i turn on the engine there are times that it has difficulty in shifting from one gear to the next. the ATF is okay per Hyundai Makati. Lately, i notice that the 3rd gear which should shift at around 60 kph fails to do so unless i ease my foot on the accelerator. please help.

yan din problem ng 98 starex ko, ever since we bought it brand new talagang hindi kusang nag upshift unless you release the accelerator slightly, if you dont it will shift at approx. 2800 to 3000 rpm. pabalik balik narin sa casa and they cant find the problem. My everest a/t also has this shifting delay but only in the 1st 2 gears, from 2nd to 4th ok naman shifting pattern niya

My friend also had problems with their Starex a/t tranny (1998 model) which was fixed at one of those independent shops that specilized in Starexes before (since wala pang HARI back then).
If a full ATF drain and change or check on the ECU and throttle cables doesnt cure it then maybe the tranny would have to be taken down and inspected...
