September 24th, 2007 10:03 AM #2051SF owners, would you mind sharing your experiences with the SF's suspension. I realize that the SF is a CUV by design and will most likely fail in comparison to serious off-roaders like the Fort and Everest.
But can it hold its own (not on extreme dirt tracks with boulders an all, just on unpaved roads with some medium obstacles)? Have read some comments from this thread of hard thumps and bangs on potholes. Would you still describe the suspension of your SF's as at par to most CUV's or SUV's even?
As for the a smooth ride with low noise and vibrations...I guess the SF is a winner. Just curious of the suspension's durability subjected to our metro's challenging road conditions.
Your comments would be most appreciated.

I dont think the SF is designed for serious off-roading , it says so in the manual, it is primarily a cross-over SUV, mostly for urban driving. Like for most people and their vehicles water fording is not the prime reason for buying an SUV or CUV. For me, I have a 4x4 ranger with snorkel to do that, I use the SF because of its space, comfort and economy, as for the durability of suspension, its still too early to tell, but judging by hyundai's recent record, hopefully it will be good.

The manual states that the SF is not designed for serious off roading and blazing trails. Only for paved roads lang.
Honesly, I am not 100% confident in SF suspension when cruising rough roads. Na-try ko na in one of the roads going to Molino from Coastal Road. Anglalaki ng lubak don. You will hear sound from underneath that will make you worried. I suggest if you are into off roading, look for other brands.

September 25th, 2007 09:33 AM #2056Thanks for the inputs. I am aware that since its a CUV it wasn't designed for off-raoding, guess your owner manuals confirms this. But with PH streets being much more different compared to those in US or in some parts of Asia (ang lalaki ng mga lubak dito, very bad asphalted or cemented surfaces), was wondering how the SF would fair over the first 30-36 months. Oh well, only time will tell since the SF is just a year old model. I do hope that the SF passes PH's paved roads' challenges with flying colors.
SF is still on the top of my list. SF owners, tuloy nyo lang exchanges in this forum -- it really helps. Coz of this alam ko na what features the SF has or do not have, conditions on the extended warranty, where to buy accesories outside the casa, A/V upgrades, offers, service level/competency of dealers, etc.
Excited na ko when I buy my new SUV next month ( SF or FORT ???), will let you know.

Share ko lang:
May mga napapansin akong SF na nasa gitna ung Roof Rack (Baka kyo yon).
Sabi sa Manual, pag di ginagamit ung Roof Rack, position it at the rear most to eliminate wind noise.
