Your car may have been included in the so called "silent" recalls, that every now and then are sent by the parent Hyundai manufacturer in Korea, to its international dealers.

If a part is for recall, usually replacement (upgraded) parts are already in stock at the dealer. When a vehicle comes in, all the service advisor has to do is check its body number and cross reference it to the recall list that they have.

If your car is there, the dealer will either replace the part (without you knowing). Or if it requires a couple of days, the dealer will ask you to leave the car because they will replace a damaged part (kuno) for free. Its up to the SA if they will explain the recall or not to the customer.

Now, you will think you pulled a fast one from the dealer?

    Think again ...
I doubt it was part of a recall. I complained about a fuel leak. They diagnosed it and replaced the defective part. After a few days, it leaked again. They said they replaced the wrong part. They changed another part and retained the other new part. No cost charged.

Warranty is 5 years pala. I thought 3 yrs lang. So you're right, I thought I pulled a fast one. hehehe

    Hi guys,

    Just to update you all.

Hyundai Pasong Tamo branch managers finally approved my warranty claim after writting a 2 page letter addressed to them. This saved me 25k (whew)

Just to give you all an update to what happened to my car. Apparently dirt or soil got into the tube that is meant for the coolant only, one guess is that a gas station attendant might have mistaken it for the one for the wipers and put in dirty water. This affected all the other pipes connected to the coolant so they have to flush them all properly, but everything took forever also with the ordering of parts.

For their branch my case was the first. They replaced the thermostat, thermostat housing (which took a while day to do, is this true?) two hoses, overhauled the radiator. Gotta be super careful with these super maselan Korean Cars!

Never buying a korean car in the future.

Wow, good to hear that! Thanks for the update. I think Hyundai Service should be commended. They honored a warranty that seems to be caused by "negligence".

The result would be more or less the same if you put dirty water to Japanese cars. Lesson learned, don't ever let gas attendants do something to our cars beyond cleaning the windshield.

Even the wiper fluid reservoir should be filled with distilled water only to avoid water marks and clogging ...

True. Though i seriously have doubts on their claim. Who knows, they could have done it.
