Let's see what the Sonata has in the way of news........

"Oriental-Hyundai Sdn Bhd, the distributor of locally assembled Hyundai cars, is confident of promoting Hyundai Sonata sedans as premium taxis in Malaysia."

Well.... That's about as far away from being an enthusiast's car my Sonata can get. He He.

That's ok though. It's a people-mover, nothing more. Still. it's nice to see stuff like this unverified tidbit from Wikipedia:

"The U.S. launch of the new Sonata kicked off with the historical opening of the first U.S. assembly plant for the Korea-based Hyundai Motor Company in May 2005. The plant is located in Montgomery, Alabama. Hyundai claims the car will launch to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.6 sec source: Car and Driver, and have a top speed of 147 mph (236 km/h) which was not tested on a dynamometer for the V6. But the car is frequently reported to be going at speeds beyond 160 mph (257 km/h) at Hyundai's proving grounds most likely due to the gear ratios of the sedan or an coincidential slipstream. A Canadian sports version was available which came with an optional 3.3 L 247 HP (173 kw) V6 engine a package which was optional extending the high end GLS V6.

2006/2007 models of this sedan did not receive a speed limiter, but U.S. officials are planning to put a limiter because of the powerful transmission when combined with the V6 version. Recently Goodyear, Arizona resident Lawrence Pargo was accused of doing 147 mph (236 km/h) in a rental Sonata. [3].

Kinda makes me wonder maybe the car is over-engineered for its intended role. That certainly is fine with me since I eventually will mod it with a supercharger later on.
