another thing. I bought the 12 seater. so 2nd and 3rd row seats are fixed.

i was trying to inquire with hyundai if the option to change the seats are available. the parts manager told me that swivel seats are available for 2nd row, but it would still be fixed. (why would you want swivel seats if you can't slide it towards the front seat is beyond me).

I asked her to confirm if possible to do sliding, but up to now she has not responded.

anybody have any idea if this is available and how much it would cost? ie. sliding/swivel 2nd row. sliding 3rd row.

"i also want to add some 3 point belts sana. booster chairs don't work with lapbelts"
Tough luck. It's only the 10 seater that has 3 pt seatbelts in the rear cabin. Even the high end 10 seater variant (the one with 2 rows where the second row slides and swivels) does not have 3 pt seatbelts in the 2nd and 3rd rows. This is because the latch point for the seatbelts is just above where the cupholders on the rear row are (in the 10 seater, there is only 1 cupholder per side on the rear row, vs. 2 for all other variants). With either of the rows pushed forward or backward to make for more space, it is impractical to have the fixed 3 pt ELR seatbelts.

The 12 seater's 4th row folds and slides to make for additional compartment space. And the 3rd row is positioned a bit away from the latch point, even if it is fixed. Thus, Hyundai fitted them with lap belts. What would really be nice is if the seats were similar to those on the Suburban which have the 3pt seatbelts built into the upper portion of the seatframe.

As for your booster chairs, I am presuming these are the kind that don't have the L.A.T.C.H. system. I think there are attachment points at the back of the seats for these (I just haven't scrutinized it thoroughly because I don't use booster seats for the kids anymore).

I can't confirm this, but I heard it will cost about P100K to have the seating arrangement reconfigured. That's because they will have to place recessed railings into the floor, among others (no easy task).

One thing you may have realized by now....the 12 seater is great for regular day to day commuting but not when you have to load luggage and stuff in the rear for out-of-town trips or for balikbayan arrivals.

Hhhmmm,- their screw diameters may not fit..... Just shop around... Good luck....

If you're removing the antenna,- I suggest that you cover the receptacle on the Starex to prevent dust and water from settling in. Also to protect from corrosion....

Yes, the rubber ducky, albeit a shorter one. The screw on the antenna itself is the female variety, am not exactly sure of the dimensions. Some aftermarket antennas have different screw widths with adapters. It could be a challenge looking for the right fit.

Since you mentioned dust and water settling in, I have another unique problem (only for Grand Starex). The rubber cover of the wiper arm (where it is screwed and bolted to the assembly) was stolen some time ago. Stupid thief, pati iyan pinag-tripan! This is not really a major problem but still an irritant. Only the Santa Fe has the same time of cover for the wiper arm...all the other Hyundai vehicles have snap on covers that are not as easily removed. The replacement part still costs P50, and one can't help the feeling similar to as if he/she lost the tire valve covers to thieves.

I'll share with you the sentiments of our beloved mayor here with his grand starex, the black plastic lining around it's windshield was gone. He didn't noticed if it's removed while travelling on the road or just stolen by some stupid thieves here.
But the point is, it's very easy to remove. The problem now is it's not covered by the warranty, and the replacement parts weren't available yet. And it's very noticeable that it's missing. He's now concerned if the removed plastic lining cover would alow the water to drip inside the cabin when he travelled on rainy days.

Oh well bros.,- ganyan talaga rito sa atin... Hangga't makakalamang at makakaistorbo ang iba,- gagawin at gagawin ng mga #$%^ na iyan....

Agree here bro. Ironically the van is so big and yet it can't be functional to carry a big cargo.... I bet that the Jazz is much more functional for its size......

    It(i.e., price issue) still is.

And, I bet that it could have been a lot more Starex on the road if it were the same bang for the buck as before. I'd rather say "padami ng padami ang mga Innova (at Carnival) sa daan... Looks like the price of the Starex is a big issue indeed!"

Their product (and price) leadership cum product differentiation strategies are not working here in our country. They could have made more profit (and should have kept their factories fully loaded) if they have remained faithful instead on their tried and tested cost leadership cum product differentiation strategies....

They have relegated themselves instead to the same (relatively insignificant) number of HiAce Grandias on the road.

I read last week sa PDI, that Hyundai is giving freebies with their Grand Starex installment purchases.
It implies that they're thankful for making Starex the No. 1 van here in the Philippines.
I remembered that they're giving away home theatre packages, etc, they're giving 3 options for G Starex buyers what to get, I've just forget the other 2 freebies. What a move?!

Yeah, my problems with seating configuration is hard to get in via driver side back door (bec 2nd row fixed) and the lack of storage space bec 3rd row fixed. If i can solve these problems, i would be very satisfied with the car.
