May 23rd, 2013 11:13 AM #3kung nasa gitna yung needle, medyo mataas iyan. All of my 5 cars, just over 1/3 but not near 1/2. Pero, as long na di umangat over 1/2, you should be fine. Use proper mix of coolant and water for your radiator not just plain water. It will be better for your car.

That's normal. All the cars I've gone through are just slightly below the middle mark of the temp gauge.

May 23rd, 2013 11:34 PM #5Thanks. Lahat kasi ng cars na nahandle ko dati(lancer, mazda3, crosswind), be it brand new or not, lahat nasa 1/2 exactly pag normal operating temp na.

before you start worrying just remember that those temp gauges are not exact. if they were meant to read exact then they will have numbers on them that read the temperature, like 0-110 degrees C. instead they have lines that indicate cold, 1/2, high, etc. so 1/2 gauge reading on one gauge does not necessarily mean a certain temperature, it is just 1/2 of that particular gauge. repeat, THAT PARTICULAR GAUGE ONLY. you can not compare it to another gauge. those are just indicators, showing you if your engine is still cold (so you do not rev up), already properly warmed up (so you can step on the gas pedal all you want) or hot (so you need to check your engine cooling system). since there are no numbers there that indicate actual temperatures you can not compare it with another gauge on another vehicle.
now if you have a gauge in your car that shows you the temperature in degrees (like 60 deg C for cold, 85 deg C for normal, or 99 deg C for "move your a$$ already your engine is about to shut down on overheat!!!") then you can compare it with others that read the same.
