Honda to exit Australia? (Official announcement imminent)

Wonder if Honda's downturn is linked to a resurgent Toyota at least in terms of design? Also aside from the fact na wala silang true pickup and cheap 7 seater (CRV doesn't count) which is all the rage nowadaays.

When Toyota kept putting out bland designs, Honda was doing pretty well..

3G CRV

All sold quite well locally.

All gradually disappeared. I even see more new Vios than Citys

Back to my point...
I think the current camry looks way better than the accord, the Corolla is on par and wins in some features vs the Civic (safety tech) aside from the price, and for some reason, I see more new RAV4s than new CRVs nowadays.

OZ known for its outback, people tend to buy suvs, pickups, or ppvs.

Tama si mda na wala silang real as in hardcore diesel suv, people will pass up no matter how ganda your design is.

Toyota naman, halos every segment may model sila kaya sila ang world no. 1.

In our local market, I think HondaPH will lose more market share espcially with Kia Hyundai MG Geely offering better priced vehicles. And this is already a shrinking market(passenger vehicles). They need to adapt but I don't see that changing soon. They need to offer 50k plus discounts fast.

Even my "next" vehicle list does not include any Honda vehicles.

Plus I don't think Honda really stands out anymore.

Dati you paid 50-100k extra and you got so much more value than the Toyota counterpart. Now, wins in the value category parang hindi na sobra. Don't the mid trim Vios and Corollas already come with 7 airbags and vsa?

Don't get me wrong I loved our EK, our 6G accord and still do with our current FDs at home.

Still not biting on the Kia Hyundai and other brands though, pero the value proposition is nice. Long term quality wise, kayo muna mag test hehe. We keep our cars for a loooooooooong time kasi.

Not satisfied with our Hyundai ownership experience despite going through multiple dealerships (we've gone through 4-5) and not willing to try unofficial service centers for the meantime.

Hehe kaya sabi ko nga sa isang thread... parang Honda PH is trying hard NOT to sell vehicles. Wonder why?

They have 2 cheap 7-seaters (BRV and Mobilio). The Civic far outsells the Altis, and so does the CRV vs the RAV4 (based on official 2019 sales figures, not sightings).

It's the lack of a pickup and PPV that kills them. It has never been their equity and they aren't pivoting that way, so chances are they'll slowly turn into a niche brand (ala Suzuki, Mazda, Subaru) in markets where pickup-platforms are all the rage.

Looked it up malaki nga discrepancy ng Civic / Altis and CRV / RAV4

I guess even without the PPVs and pickups, as a brand I thought honda used to sell more as a % of the market.

... Wala akong naaalala na diesel passenger car sa Australia.

Kahit HiLux nila 2.7 Petrol

Malaking market yung “utes” or pickups sa Australia, mostly yung mga midsize like the Ranger at Triton (Strada).

Sa US, mas malakas yung Honda. They have the Ridgeline pickup plus a lot of passenger vehicles.
