I recently have been hearing a grinding noise coming from the engine during cold starts, it goes away after the engine warms up ... could it be the oil pump? should i be worried?
I'm using Shell Helix 10W-40 oil, last changed two months ago.

October 19th, 2010 03:35 PM #2I have a similar case, which could be a wet compressor or pulley needing lubrication.
But it's more like a rusting torque sound from something that turns, and not like a grinding one.

October 19th, 2010 04:25 PM #4Some high pitch rotational sound heard when I turn the AC on a minute after a cold start
It eventually goes away as the engine reaches normal operating temperature.
But I wouldn't describe it as grinding.
I'm not sure about your case, because a similar noise is associated with timing chains, which I think is not used on your Accord (afaik, it uses timing belt).Last edited by isa1023; October 19th, 2010 at 04:40 PM.
