Best time to use it sir on open highway with little to no traffic

First time to use it sir last weekend sa SLEX going to Tagaytay and back to Manila

I enjoyed my Civic more during that time

Overtaking is a breeze and you'll feel and notice the engine response is quicker than driving in D with Eco On. By the way I used S mode with Eco Off.

Trip meter says I averaged at 12.9km/l during Tagaytay back to BGC. Note that it was already 2am and I tried to drive past 120kph for a short short time (overtake 2 cars in front on a clear road)

    drive safe

hmmm. I find it quite low to have only 12.9 km/l on the highway. I've tried having 16-18 km/l from QC-NLEX-SCTEX and vice versa. using only D, eco off and driving 100-120 kph. i'm using only 1.8 E.

tried shifting from D to S while driving along SCTEX, and got shock because of sudden fluctuate of my RPM from 2k RPM to 3-4k RPM (i think) in just a few seconds. hahahaha! then I immediately shifted back to D. i am not sure if I have done it correctly. hahahahaha!

free 3 years LTO is almost always a default across all Honda Dealers. 5K discount is ok considering our unit is new and there's really scarcity of available units, specially you wanted for a WOP. i got mine 15k discount from Honda Makati for a midnight burgundy and luckily to have my unit in just 10 working days.

well, as to your insurance, maybe it depends on the coverage for that 26k. I got mine at 33k, but the coverage is pretty ok and deductible is only 2k.

12.9 is normal if you include Tagaytay traffic, plus the winding roads down to Sta. Rosa. The SLEX section of a Tagaytay trip is only 60% of the total journey so the FC isn't comparable to an NLEX-SCTEX trip where it's 100% highway.

Also, he may be driving faster than you, or at least keeping higher revs. More braking and acceleration is also a very big factor hurting FC compared to traveling at a constant speed.

you got a point on that sir jut. i remember your 80 kph at cruise control along SCTEX resulting to a very impressive FC.

by the way, were you using S mode on the highway? is it ok to shift from D to S while the car is moving? would the transmission be affected badly? my revs suddenly burst when I shifted it to S.

I shift from D to S all the time. It's perfectly normal for the revs to go up - that's exactly the point of S mode, to keep your revs at a higher level. 😊

Think of it as downshifting in a manual. Higher revs = more power and torque = easier overtaking at the expense of higher consumption.

There's absolutely no detrimental effect to your transmission. Modern automatics have so much built-in safety nets that it's quite hard to wreck them unless you're a really brash driver.

Another safety net which I discovered is that you can't launch the Civic 1.8 from a standstill. In other cars, you can brake launch (step on the gas and brake pedals, keep the revs at 3000-4000 rpm, then release the brake to launch at 3000-4000 rpm for that wheelspin-inducing start). In the Civic, if you try brake launching, the moment you release the brakes, the engine will just drop to 1000 rpm and launch you normally. It's actually faster to just gradually floor the pedal from a standstill.

^^^ So brake-torquing will not work on the Civics? Either in the 1.8L NA and 1.5L turbo? It must be the CVT providing some sort of safety net to preserve itself.

yes the winding roads down to Sta. Rosa made me extra cautious given na it's dark and pwedeng may animal or tao na tumawid anytime. May mga nakakasalubong din and cars in front kaya have to slow down and accelerate once clear

Weird lang is pag garahe sa bahay parang 3 or 4 bars lang na bawas sa gas gauge given na nag full tank ako sa tagaytay before grabbing some bulalo and heading home.

But my daily route to office costs me 3 to 5 bars of gas.. Pasig to Eastwood.. that's driving on D with Eco On :'(
