The road works gave us trouble going to Vigan (caught mostly red lights) but got lucky going back to Manaoag (mostly green). Average speed on the computer is 32 Kph, this includes a lot of times we were stopped at the road works. Actual average when moving was around 60.

Got inspired by your FC and I tried to drive as economically as possible today. Rosario LU to Laoag, got 15.4 km/L as per the MID, with an average speed of 46 kph. Will verify with a full tank tomorrow.

Didn't know it was possible to get that FC while still overtaking all vehicles on the road. Very tempting to just use the power and go all out when overtaking, but being mindful of the FC makes it a game of strategy and momentum more than just timing and power.

Key was to maintain as much speed as possible after overtaking (meaning no overtakes that would require you to brake afterwards). Interestingly, same travel time/avg speed as when I would drive with quicker overtakes and higher speeds. Since going fast will be negated by the next tricycle anyway, it's better to just coast until the opposite lane is clear for overtaking.

It wasn't a fun drive though, but at least it's more economical than my usual 11-12 km/L.
