I'm biased with Accord since I owned one.
Accord has a rounded over all package. Size, performance, appointments, classy appeal and resale value.
SIR appeals more to the younger gen. If you plan to own the vehicle in the next 10 years or so (and assuming you'll have a family of your own by then), I'd go with the Accord.

I'd choose an accord if I could afford the maintenance and gas consumption.

I remembered an article a long time ago about Bill Gates who's favorite daily drive to Microsoft HQ is an Accord despite his vast collection of exotic rides.
That is enough reason for me to buy the car and love it.
