Assuming it's purely for the sake of carjacking (and not for other reasons like jealousy or love triangle or what), definitely he'd be still alive today.
What bothers me is why they kill (or why owners would want to risk their lives over a car). If it's a Bugatti Veyron or Mercedes McLaren SLR then maybe it's understandable. Even then, there's insurance which will replace your car (which is why you pay them thousands of money annually).

I would not be surprised if the car ends up used for escort/backup for one of the candidates, palit lang ng plaka. Sino ba naman ang sisita sa pulitiko? After the election chop/chop na.

Mahirap kasi coz until now walang mga witnesses. Nangyari na ang tragedy, considering na he just bought the Fortuner last December. Just goes to show na wala na ngang safe na lugar ngayon, not even your home..
Malabo na talaga ma-recover yung vehicle, and most probably it ends up in good hands, either used, like what you said, by our great politikos, or perhaps landed in the chop-chop area in Bulacan. But whatever, still hoping na sana justice could still be served....

Some more info:
- Mark left the vehicle to open the gate of their house. He turned off the engine and brought the keys with him.
- Suddenly, a group of men (presumably hiding) opened the Fortuner (using another key) and was able to start the engine (?). Another backup vehicle of the carjackers was parked in a nearby vacant lot.
- Mark threw his keys towards the roof of their house. He then argued with the perpetrators. He was shot afterwards.
