It's quite possible that the speeding guys already know the car. With a mouth like that for a wife, I wouldn't be surprised if the Mates boys don't like the couple. With the way he hogs the leftmost lane, it's quite easy to spot him, especially with a Volvo.
I find this more likely than having a Volvo with a speedo that's 30 kph off.

Precisely. If the guy was a nice talker you probably won't have that view. Eh ang kaso, dito sa tsikot mas una pang pinansin yung bungangerang babae kaysa sa real issue.
Kahit nakakabwiset yung babae, that doesn't give you the right to flag them down for speeding if they really weren't.

May 23rd, 2015 11:29 PM #64He was caught overspeeding five times in one month, using two different cars, both cars always on cruise control. What are the chances both cars' speedometers are giving wrong readings? Sobrang malas naman niya, 2 tsikot niya parehong dispalinghado ang speedometer.
I think SLEX officials need to investigate this and get to the bottom pronto. Sa tingin ko sila ang may mali sa kasong ito.

mukhang laser na camera nila based sa pinakita sa news. from what i read before posible din mag error yan pag mali gamit even if calibrated yung gun, ie operator error. and about naman sa choice ng targets ng enforcers, dati ko pa naririnig na they do discriminate against sports and luxury vehicles, maybe they think those cars will likely overspeed. redflag kaagad kaya for instance as between incoming volvo and innova, volvo babarilin nila. im not saying the foregoing happened here kasi nakakapagtaka din na wala pa ibang nag rereklamo kung slex may mali.

May 23rd, 2015 11:52 PM #661+ agree. people react differently from the same stimulus. the wife couldn't contain her emotion and was obviously agitated; under the circumstances they were in (if true), her reaction
was understandable; the husband was somewhat detached and was taking it matter-of-factly. in his interview, he did not ascribe any wrongdoing to anybody but attributed it to the speed gun. Manila Toll Expressway Systems, Inc. (MATES) could not just brush this aside as a non-issue because their equipment is new, and, hence, foolproof. that is a leap of faith. MATES might be a private corporation, but because it engages in public service, it is a quasi - public corporation; thus, it is accountable to the public it serves. it must serve the people with utmost responsibility, integrity, loyalty, and efficiency. and, this accountability includes, it goes without saying, considering that its equipment is now being questioned, the proper and regular calibration of its equipment and periodic training of its employees who operate them. in other words, the burden is on its shoulders to show compliance of all these things, and not on the motoring public.

i searched yung model ng lidar ng slex based sa pinakita sa news and found this likely match. Laser Technology - TruCAM Laser Speed Gun with Video
very advanced. nakakapagtaka din na wala nilabas na evidence sa public yung slex given the recording ability of the camera. baka fake china copy lol

The contention some people are making online (that Caltex to Calamba is 15k and the car was actually going 130 km/h) is absolutely ridiculous.
I've driven on that road for twenty years, and have GPS'd it... the distance is about 9 km. And the couple in the Volvo are in the right... the SLEX speed trap is wrong.

No, the gun isn't defective... but they're likely not using it correctly. Hand-aiming the gun without stabilizing it is bound to give erroneous readings. Even swinging it quickly to pick a target can give poor readings.

That's why the expressways should ditch speed traps. Base everything on time-distance measurement.
