Just a rant. Just a few minutes ago a speeding Toyota Blue Fortuner with an 8 front plate and ZNK-178 rear plate and a HUGE Congress round sticker in the rear window went counter-flowing along Connecticut on its way to EDSA in San Juan. It intermittently turned on its wang-wang whenever it got stalled in traffic.

Well, I just hope you got to the toilet in time and didn't end up shitting in your pants as with the way you drive, I am sure someday you will end up meeting someone who will make you sh!t in your pants before sending you on your way.

In the meantime may God be merciful with our country if you legislate the way you or your driver drives.

    Hi GH,

Does the car sound familiar to you? Actually there are a lot of Fortuners bearing 8 plates running around the Greenhills Shopping Center but a lot of them are driven by or carrying Tsinoys. It does make me wonder how many Tsinoy congressmen are there and how many of them live in the area.

Speaking of JV, he is a mayor though. 8 plates are for congressmen.

Could be from his brother Sen Jinggoy.

Pero kahit kanino pa sya galing, it's still a violation! Nakakainit lang talaga ng dugo.

Kaya sa mga authorized vehicles lang talaga ako nagbibigay eh.

OT: AFAIK, the siblings are not that close as to be sharing/swapping car plates (notwithstanding the legalities).

Very possible na hindi legit na owner ng no 8 plate.

But even if legit owner ng 8 plate, AFAIK, bawal pa rin silang gumamit ng wang-wang.

question: are those plates supposed to be used only by congressmen/congresswoman or can they extend the courtesy to their immediate family or staff?

What I know is no, the tongressman I mean congressman are the ones who are issued with the "8" protocol plate, but sad to say they extend this to the cars that mrs. and mistresses uses or the ones that pick up their kids from school, they even extend this to some of their chums, go figure why this country of ours can't progress.

What I find disturbing is that the car has also this HUGE round Congressional Seal sticker placed prominently on its rear window. I mean, what for?

If the plates are legit and the car is really used to transport the congressman to the Batasang Pambansa, with the sticker supposedly serving as some sort of gate pass for myopic security guards, shouldn't it be placed in front?

Instead it is placed at the back, above the more mundane and pang-masa ZNK-178 plate. To intimidate traffic enforcers and drivers of cars it cuts off, perhaps?
