(UPDATE) A BUS that lost its brakes slammed into a jeep at the North Luzon Expressway Tuesday, killing two people and injuring several others, GMA Network's "Flash Report" said on the same day.
The report said the DST bus was overtaking a mini-bus when it lost its brakes and hit a jeep that was approaching the tollway.
The injured have been taken to the Karuhatan Hospital, the report said.
================
I don't think it's a matter of losing brakes. I don't think the bus drivers realize that because of their size, they need more braking room. They can't stop on a dime no matter how hard they press their brakes. And then people die.

"nawalan ng preno" is a common excuse... however, even with the loss of brakes, if a driver was driving with the proper speed and gave the proper distances, he should still be able to control the vehicle and avoid serious injury at the least.

i don't get how PUV (public utility vehicle) drivers usually drive recklessly when they hold the lives of their passengers in their hands. of all people who drive on the road, they should be the most cautious imho...

madami kasing mga bus drivers akala nila, kotse ang dala nila. madami sa kanila alang pakialam sa mga pasahero nila, lalo na kung bayad na ang pasahero sa pamasahe. they (bus drivers) don't care about the safety, they do care about their boundary!
