Yes excess baggage should be paid but not if the excess is just 0.8 kg which is less than 1 kg. PAL and CX are flexible on the baggage requirement. They are flexible up to 5 kgs.
I'm not sure if you can call Cebu as budget airline, look at their fare on peak season and you will see that their fare is even expensive than the other airlines. I bought PAL ticket for this holiday because they are cheaper, allow 20 kgs of baggage, meron meal and I can ask water without paying 50 bucks.

Cebu Pacific is a low cost carrier. so don't expect too much. Its like purchasing an entry level car without the bells and whistles. Their planes are servicing all domestic and international flights. so one delay in a certain area will have a domino effect.
Regarding the price, both PAL and CEBUPAC allot limited seats for their promo fares. once the promo seats are consumed, the next higher fare applies. so its wise to check prices of both carriers. (lately, PAL offers similar or even cheaper promo fares than CEBU)

December 3rd, 2008 10:09 AM #184Kagrabe what happened in Thailand! Cebu pacific used a military base to pick up their passengers!
Philippine airlines used a REAL airport which was a few hours away from Bangkok. Cebu Pacific instead used an airbase which was just 1 1/2 hour away. I think Cebu Pacific's choice may have been more convenient than PAL's, but since this is the "Cebu Pacific - Bad, Bad Service" thread, I have to look for something to rant about with them ;)

yeah, when you book online, compare the prices of the two competing airlines...pag medyo mababa lang ng 500 or sometimes 1K ang cebpac, magPAL na ako for domestic travels...international, i allow as much as 3K difference kasi di naman all in ang cebpac, unlike pal, terminal fee na lang babayaran mo...ala na ung tax, fuel, etc...
with PAL international flight, you'll be provided with blanket and a decent meal...minsan kasi aircon sa eroplano di ma adjust ang lamig at na check in mo jacket mo...

I recently sat on a flight to Taipei and back and the plane was right on the dot, even early by 5 minutes, on both legs of the trip.
Yes the fare is cheap compared to competitors - 10k for roundtrip ticket to Taipei. No food in flight, baggage allowance is only 15kilos. Leg room (or make that knee room ) is really tight for a medium sized pinoy like me.
I was able to book this online. I even changed my return flight online with some charges of course.
For a budget airline, I was satisfied with how my experience went. With the number of posts here complaining about Cebu Pacific, I must be a very lucky passenger.
I do sympathize with your experiences on a bad service. For the inconveniences caused you, Cebu Pacific should have compensated in kind if they want to keep their customers.Last edited by DonCamote; December 4th, 2008 at 06:48 PM. Reason: mistake

December 16th, 2008 06:06 PM #187i used to hate CP coz of their delays during my flights to china and malaysia but my opinion suddenly changed last week when they broke a lot of red tape just to get my friend a seat for a flight back to mnl after his wife was suddenly rushed to the hospital.

my brother just arrived from Manila yesterday, his bag was checked-in and with proper tag but was not seen by my brother in the conveyor belt. He reported it and CP said they will check on what happened.
Would you believ that after 1 hour, he got a text that his bag was already found and it was "mistakenly" carried away by one of the passengers. I mean how can a bag with proper tag be not checked by 2 security guards in the departure area? Being upset, i asked my uncle who happens to be the head of the ATO security at the airport. Guess what, he said that this happens a lot since only PAL and Airphil passengers with checked-in bags are being checked by airport security. I have travelled alot and I don't mind this since most of the security personnel alreayd know me so i just shrug it off as tiwala. Ngayon ko lang ito talag napansin and I did asked my cousin who also frequently tavels domestically and internationally and he said that he and his wife did exprience this also from CP but never fro AP and PAL.
I don't know if there is a pact or an addt'l bonus that Lucio Tan is paying ATO for this but it is really obvious in my case. Anyone care to check if this is true.Fasten your seatbelt! Or else...Driven To Thrill!

Bro,- standard naman na tsine-check ang check-in baggages na ilalabas mo vs. your baggage claims tags, whether domestic or international. Hindi naman siguro may preference sila, dahil security at serbisyo iyan ng airport, AFAIK.
