    Seatbelts do save lives
When some countries adopted the seatbelt law years ago (talking about the likes of the US, European countries, etc), they also did the "Wear your seatbelt. It's the law" thing.

J_avonni: Surprisingly, the government cannot really enforce the seatbelt law in the rear seats because a majority of vehicles still plying the city do not have them. People will complain more if they ask the owners to install them (extra spending kasi). In addition, what about the tricycle, jeepney, bus and other public transportation vehicles that do not have seatbelts standard (at all)? Imagine how unsafe that can be considering the habits of these PUV drivers.

It took a while for the US to enforce the seatbelt law for all occupants before the car even started. People must know better, though, and wear them, whether or not the belts are required.

To the thread starter: Sorry but I think what you did was wrong.

I ain't going to say much anymore, most of these guys already said everything, which is good. Here;s my point lang...

No matter how dark your tints are, as long as you're not wearing that seatbelt he had the reason to flag you down. The law doesn't care whether you are the richest guy on the world, a taxi/jeep driver, or whatever, as long as you violate it, you have to suffer the consequences.

It's funny that the fine for that offense is just kinda cheap, and you allowed yourself to bribe that enforcer.

    SEAT BELT LAW (RA 8750)

Republic Act 8750 also known as the "Seat Belt Law" has been enforced since May 1, 2000.

Motorists should be informed of the following:

    1. The driver and passengers seated in the front seat of a vehicle, especially automobiles, Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) and Utility Vehicles (UV), whether private or public, brand new or old, should use the seat belt provided.
    2. Passengers not facing the front of the vehicle or seated on "jump seats" are not required to wear seat belts.
    3. For Public Utility Jeeps (PUJs), the driver and passengers in front should wear seat belts.
    4. For Public Utility Buses (PUBs), the driver, passengers seated directly behind the driver and passengers seated by the doors of the vehicle are required to wear seat belts.
    5. For School and Tourist Buses, seat belts should be worn by the driver, passengers seated directly behind the driver and passengers seated on the last row seats.
    6. Penalties and Fines:

    A. For the driver/conductor/owner/operator:

For not wearing the Seat belt:
    First Offense P 250.00
    Second Offense P 500.00
Third Offense P 1,000.00 and one week suspension of license.

For not informing passengers to wear the seat belt:
    For every offense P 300.00
I guess it would have been cheaper to just pay the fine unless the OP has a habit of not wearing seatbelt.
As the signs here say "Click it or get a ticket"

The buses I have been on here have never had seatbelts. I guess it's because the bus is bigger than the average car and seatbelts would just delay an evacuation during an accident.

Sa UK walang seatbelt ang mga city bus. Sa mga inter-city bus, meron.

Law or no law I wear my seatbelt and insist on my passengers to do likewise or else the car won't move. It's there for our safety. Yes, I agree with them you broke the law twice.
