The Swedish-made Koenigsegg CCX is an engineering marvel goes 0-60 mph in a blistering 3.1 seconds with an estimated top speed of almost 260 mph. The 806-horsepower, 2,200-pound carbon fibre Super Car runs the standing quarter mile in just nine seconds at 146 mph, you probably can't afford the $695,000 sticker price.

The current record-holder is the Veyron. The new 800hp Koenigsegg CCX hasn't done an official run yet, so it can't be considered yet.

But of course, top speed records depend on what you define by "production"...

The Veyron has hit an indicated 252.95 mph, yes... but:

The Callaway Corvette Sledgehammer was based on a production car, and hit 254.76 mph. It's road legal, but not considered production because it's a one-off.

The Dauer Porsche 962 has also hit a claimed 252 mph (that is, it is claimed to have reached that speed already, not claimed to be able to, as in the case of the CCX), and it is completely road-legal, and qualifies as a production car (50 examples were made, there still aren't that many Veyrons on the road, yet).

Of course, if the CCX is ever tested, then it may probably blow everything out of the water... until a 300 mph road-car is built...

I still would go for the F1 all NA boost- it's astounding speed's the result only of its builder's OC goal to create the perfect road car. Most of the breed nowadays and in the past have either supercharged the engine or have done extensive mods to its powerplant. It just won't cut it at least for me so McLaren all the way baby (not that I'm really an F1 purist)

how about the ferrari FXX? enzo's big brother.... i don't know if its the fastest, but i'm sure it's one of the most expensive at $4M. and it's faster than the koenisegg, 0-60 in 2.5-3secs. exact figure is unknown, ayaw i-publish ng ferrari, hehe.
