downhill driving!

help naman please! paano po ba tamang diskarte kapag nagdadrive
sa mga downhill o pababang terrain? madalas kasi nangangamoy sunog yung brakes ko o di kaya halos ayaw na kumagat ng preno ko!

downshift and use engine braking to control your speed going downhill. Never use your brakes for long drives downhill.

pano ka ba magdrive? do u shift into neutral?
I guess depending on ur speed na din, pero normally don't rely too much on your brakes, "engine brake" ka. sample is 2nd gear ka then don't step on the gas, malilimit nito yung speed mo coz ur engine is doing some of the braking for you. No gas, no acceleration.

madalas magfade ang brake like going to highlands tapos mabagal ang gapang pababa...

one thing you can do to improve the situation is to use a better brake fluid... some brakefluids boil too easily eh... i don't know what brand is good, but may difference yan for sure...

another thing is to make sure that your brake system is well bled, meaning walang air bubbles sa brake system mo, kung meron, mas mabilis talaga magfade ang brake...

third.... tips nila using engine braking... so try not to gas up na when going downhill, the slower your momentum, the less effort you need to stop the car.

stay in gear lang. the appropriate gear is dictated by the speed that you are driving. avoid using your breaks alone.

sabi nila, kung anong gear ginamit mo paakyat, yun din ang gamitin mo pababa on the same route ( pabalik ) ....... then tulungan mo na lang ng occasional touch sa brake pag tumataas yung RPM mo habang pababa ka......

so far effective sa akin yun .......

tanong lang po, kapag nag-eengine break ka ba, gumagamit to ng fuel? kasi tumataas pa rin yung needle ng tach pag ganon eh..

tataas talaga yung rpm mo above idling kasi the speed of the drive wheels (which tends to increase going downhill because gravity is making your car go faster) is influencing your engine rpm, how much depends on your car's gearing... your fuel consumption won't be any different at 1500 rpm engine braking and 1500 rpm cruising
