Indeed, the S60 is showing its age but it is one of the best cars i've driven. heheh.

entry level SUV-Subaru Forester
Luxury SUV-Subaru Outback.

it's good to see that subaru did well. hopefully, it will result in better sales and support. btw, the Outback is neither an SUV nor a luxury vehicle. heck, some would argue that the Forester is a wagon, rather than an SUV.

Oh pardon me but I actually made my comments earlier because I've test driven both models in the past and "ease in driving" is not the main factor in an MPV in my opinion.

Too true. If it were up to me... Starex nalang ang panalo. It drives like a boat, but the features and power at the price are worth the terrible driving dynamics... ...and all its major competitors are gas-engined.

Kaya lang, this is a COTY run by motoring journalists and enthusiasts, and they don't seem to change the scoring rules for different categories. So certain subjective qualities that are important for small cars and sedans are applied to the bigger classes, thus, big cars that are easy/fun to drive (Mazda6, Grandis, Strada), get the automatic win.

The wins of the Subarus are a case in point... How can you declare the Forrester and Outback SUVs? They don't do what SUVs do best, and yet they win, simply because nothing in the class can drive quite as well.

Oh well... maybe next year. But in the meantime, it's a fair assurance that if you went chauffeur-less, you wouldn't be disappointed in any of these cars.

Super-smooth V6. 4WD, fully-loaded, and for 200-400k less than the Trailblazer or Fortuner 4x4.

If the scoring system didn't include pricing, maybe the Trailblazer would have won, but some people also had issue with the plastic quality, engine noise and ride... which is not a good sign considering it costs 1.7m... as opposed to the Santa Fe, which, despite not having leather at the 1.7m price point, has better interior quality and ride comfort.

RE: new Avanza 1.3E automatic... a whole lot better than the old Avanza. Doesn't feel like a facelifted Tamaraw, anymore (old 1.3 Avanza had a crap interior). And the engine-transmission combo feels very good, even compared to the 1.5 AT. I'd wholeheartedly say it's worth the money.
