March 18th, 2004 11:41 PM #1if you were to restore a car and given 3 choices
a 123 mb
an early to late 70s beetle
or a ford mustang...no specific model
what would you choose?
a friend of mine is planning to restore any of the above mentioned cars as his pet project
ano po ba magandang ayusin....considering na gagamitin din sya from time to time....
any input guys?

Practical pa.

Hmmm...bibili pa lang ba siya? Aralin niya muna ang W123 series. Ang daming engines at trim levels niyan.
Yung sakin is 1977 European version na 300D (3.0 diesel).Formerly used by the United Nations.
Original upholstery pa din hanggang ngayon. Pati OEM first aid kit at owner's handbook nasa akin pa.

tumingin din ako now ng mga website ng w123 ang ganda nga ....sayang we used to have one di ako marunong mag appreciate dati...pero bata pa ako nun di ko rin alam kung anong exact model nya basta alam ko 123 sya.... when i was learning to drive pinilit ko dad ko ibenta yun para may pambili ako ng nissan sentra. (ang bobo ko pala ) :D
anyway....any idea magkano ba ang current price ng mga ganyan ngayon? and if you are going to restore it to pristine condition magkano ang kaya aabutin.... and anong yr ang pinaka ok? (parang gusto ko rin ahh) :P sna may pera ako heheh

i'll go for the MB... biased ba?.. eheheh
sedan - 100k-250K (ranges from project car to pristine)
wagon - 180k-400k
coupe - same as sedan... can reach up to 350k...
the diesel variants commands a higher price than the gasoline ones.
Here are the variants
Gas:
2.0 carb (200)
2.3 carb and 2fuel injected (usually denoted by an "E" on the badge) (230 and 230E)
2.5 carb (250)
2.8L carb and fuel injected (280 and 280E)
comes in auto and manual tranny
Diesel
2.0 (200D)
2.4 (240D)
3.0 comes in non-turbo and turbo variant (300D, 300D turbo)
wagons would have the badge with a T
200T, 230TE, 250T, 240TD, 300TD, 300TD (turbo)Last edited by HBOY; March 19th, 2004 at 11:26 AM.

E - Einzetsprung (?) (Fuel Injection)
T - Touring
D - Diesel
Merong 4 speed manual, 5 speed manual or automatic tranny.
Some have a manual sunroof, rear seatbelts, power windows, power locks and other bells and whistles na hindi pa uso nung 1970's.
Cabin space is large. Everything inside feels robust and expensive.
Kahit luma na, 'japorms' pa din.

if restored properly.. the car is solid as a tank.. and stays planted on the road at high speeds...
the engine.. if taken cared of properly.. virtually bulletproof... the diesels... at 200,000KM.. considered very young pa ang makina
you also have the US version and the Euro Version..
US Version
Bigger bumpers (5mph bumpers)
Recessed sealed headlamps
dual contact front turn signals (acts as parklight too)
rear side markers built in on the taillight
Euro version
thinner looking bumpers
solid headlights (though you can have the square headlights or the rounded ones)
no double contact lights
no rear side markers on the taillight
more options

Euro versions are also fitted with rear foglamps.
Personally sa Euro version ako. Minsan pangit yung alterations na ginagawa ng Mercedes Benz to make the cars pass U.S. standards (e.g. the big, fat bumpers).
