It was during highway driving, the check engine light suddenly turned on. Power was down.
Brought it to the casa, they found that cylinder 2 was misfiring. It turned out part of the piston was broken off. Sh***y luck.
Car is still under warranty. Its only 1 year and 8 months old. The engine will be sent back to the factory to be studied according to the casa. They might even issue a recall.

February 17th, 2019 05:01 PM #4What is the mileage of this car? Was it driven hard often?
I might even demand a replacement vehicle at this point, let alone a loaner. And then make it viral on social media.
How was the casa's attitude towards servicing your vehicle?

Around 17,000 Km only. Driven hard sometimes when out of town but nothing too extreme. But 90% of the time its city driven.
The casa is surprisingly accomodating so far. I think it might be because my dad is good friends with the service head. Kaya mahirap maging hostile sa casa... we can only blame Ford (maybe Thailand) itself.

That’s bad news indeed! Ford should investigate further.

February 17th, 2019 06:11 PM #8Are pistons supplied by another manufacturer?
Probably you are an unlucky recipient of manufacturing defect.

Not sure who supplies their pistons. Maybe they are manufactured in house.
This might be a one-off case, or this might affect other 1.5L ecoboost as well. Who knows. Ford said they will be analyzing what caused this. My only problem is I don’t have a car to drive now. Pwede sana magpahiram sila kahit Fiesta man lang. 😂

A good friend drives a Focus Ecobooost told me he knew of two other people who had the same issue. One is from a heavily modified engine while the other is stock. He is complaining that he is experiencing oil burning with his 1.5L Ecoboost engine.
