Precisely. It all boils down to marketing strategies. Companies deliberately "water down" their products so that the more expensive models "appear" better.
I read somewhere a case regarding a TV where the manufacturer deliberately inserted some obstruction unto the speakers to "muffle" them a bit so that they won't sound as good as the premium model. Looking at the replacement part, it had an identical part number as the premium one.
Had you bought an M/T like myself, a crude "speed sensing" is to attach the switch so that the 2nd gear position of the stick bumps the switch.
Shift to second gear, POW - auto lock!
