September 14th, 2018 04:39 PM #7281I'm not sure if any was mentioned in that video link. All I can remeber is spontaneous combustion. But this is from another link, about the cause of the fire. It's for Ford Fiesta and Ford Kuga, in Australia.
“Customers can continue to drive their vehicles but should see their dealer if their vehicle exhibits a coolant leak or overheating or frequently needs coolant added,” said Ford.
In its technical explanation the company said “a lack of coolant circulation could cause an engine to overheat, resulting in a crack in the cylinder head”.
This crack can result in a pressurised oil leak — which can ignite a fire if the oil “comes into contact with a hot engine surface”.

This one's for the Ford Focus.
"Build-up of dust levels in certain areas, which could block the carbon canister and ultimately lead to a fuel leak, have been proven to be a fire risk. While there have been no cases of fire thus far, Ford has chosen to recall the models since the hazard is a possibility."

Here's another "explanation" for the Ford Kuga.
"If the front seatbelt pre-tensioner is activated in a crash and if the spindle within the seatbelt retractor pre-tensioner is blocked “the pressure from the exhaust tube can be blown out, leading to a short flame incident and potentially causing … insulation material around the pre-tensioner to burn”, Ford says."
And here's one more for the Ford Focus.
"Last week Ford recalled close to 43,000 Focus sedans and hatches because the fuel tank may crack under certain conditions and lead to a fire."

To be fair, none of the above is for the everest.

September 14th, 2018 04:47 PM #7282Oh now I found one for the Ranger.
Ford orders urgent recall of 59,000 Ranger utes after finding out they are at risk of spontaneously catching FIRE
"The urgent recall of the popular diesel models, sold between July 2016 and December this year, comes after nine of the vehicles made in Thailand caught fire in Australia.
Ford said the exhaust was in danger of catching fire 'if sufficient grass or other combustible material has accumulated'.

September 14th, 2018 04:54 PM #7283Oh, and I keep finding them. Here's one on the F-150 (USA, Canada, and Mexico this time).
"WASHINGTON - Ford Motor Co said on Thursday it would recall 2 million F-150 pickup trucks in North America to address fire and smoke concerns in seat-belt pretensioners.
The second-largest US automaker said it was aware of 17 reports of smoke or fire in the United States and six in Canada relating to belt pretensioners, but was not aware of any accidents or injuries as a result of this condition.
The mechanism of the pretensioner, which works in tandem with airbags, involves an explosive charge that locks a seat belt in place during a crash.
Some pretensioners in front seat belts could generate excessive sparks when deployed, resulting possibly in a fire, the company said.

September 14th, 2018 04:56 PM #7284None that I know of. Maybe this is a reverse SUA Montero case. The Montero SUA is only being reported widely in the Phils. No other country it seems. While the Ford Flame is being reported in the USA, Canada, Australia, S. Africa, Mexico, but none in the Philippines.
Ford issued recall orders, Mitsubishi, none.

September 14th, 2018 05:18 PM #7286Here's another one sir. Clutch pressure plate fracture equals risk of fire on Ford Focus‚ Kuga and Transit Connect and Tourneo Connect.
Ford recalls more models amid fire risk
"Ford Motor Company has learned that certain derivatives of Focus‚ Kuga and Transit Connect and Tourneo Connect vehicles with manual gearboxes could suffer a clutch pressure plate fracture with the risk of fire. Safety is always a top priority and we are acting quickly to address this issue."

Regarding the topic of the philippines only having the issues of SUA for the Montero Sport, but none on other countries.
There was a similar case in the US where in Audi was involved. Long story short, the manufacturer was cleared and Audi said it was the way Americans drive the car which is what caused the incident. This comment infuriated US Audi Customers which resulted to people not buying their cars for a long time.
Now im thinking maybe its the way we drive that is causing these SUA incidents?

September 14th, 2018 06:37 PM #7288So much hate for Ford cars. Hahha
Thing is though, every car maker has made recalls one time or another because of fire-risk issues. There was a time nga na Toyota made a voluntary recall on 6m vehicles because of a faulty switch that could start a fire. That's how it is naman talaga with Engineering eh. You can try to think of every way a component could fail and test all possibilities, pero there will still be a very specific and sometimes rare combination that you won't be able to foresee. That doesn't mean it's poorly engineered, it just means a human did the engineering. ;) Diba, even the space shuttle, which probably was the most over-engineered thing on earth at the time, failed more than once?
From my experience, my cousins had two ford focuses that never caught on fire or had bad trannys. My wife still drives her 3 year old ecosport, no issues at all with the tranny. Dad had a Montero na hindi naman nag SUA (and he was a terrible driver hahha). My Everest is still going strong, no issues with electronics and obviously hasn't caught on fire. This is my family's second Everest na. I also have a 4 year old Ranger, no issues whatsoever.
TLDR; So I think, any car or SUV is good, just buy what you want. They're all well engineered machines naman, or else they won't run at all.

If you apprehensive with the brand, go with what your mind says.
Iba naman ang manufacturing process sa thailand compared sa US. Possibly iba din OEM suppliers. So it could be that too.

Sad for this, but good luck sa warranty.
