    sa restaurants kailangan pa ba mag tip pag meron nang service charge? ang alam ko ksi hindi na pero recently sabi sa akin ng friend ko na naging waiter sa dubai iba pa raw tip sa service charge... para saan ba talaga ang service charge?

    service charge = tip (15 - 20% of your bill)
    (unless noted on the receipt that it is not)
    karamihan ng restaurants automatic na nandyan na ang service charge sa ticket mo pag marami kayo sa grupo. optional na kung gusto mo pang bigyan ng ADDITIONAL tip yung food server mo.

    I think it's the tip (forcibly). But, you can still give tips in addition. If there's a service charge, I don't give tips anymore.

    same thing lang yan.

    yong service charge talagang kasama na sa mga restaurant since afaik, pang boost ng sahod ng mga waiter yan, then sabi nga ng isang poster, pwede kapadin naman magbigay ng extra tip kung gusto mo.

    Service charge and tip are similar but there is QUESTION between those two. Most award winning restaurant charging costumers(some are copy catter) for 10% service charge meaning that there service are far excelent when it comes to costumer service to meet your expectances as a costumer.

    Service charge is a small percentage payment for an excelent and quality sevice but, you could dispute your bill if you a costumer dissatisfied the service quality.

    Now the QUESTION is, would that service charge goes to service staff ? Did the management really give all the service charge to all service employee? Was it accounted? I dont know.

    For me, tipping is a more effective for good service cause you are giving that staff(s) directly and knowingly that he/she receive the reward to a satisfied costumers.

    If you paying service charge you are not obligated to give tip. If you do, you give them and EXTRA sMILE.

    If we have to be technical, we have to look into the tax impact and also with the consumer law...

    Service charge kasi is being forced upon the customer. Whether you like it or not, it is being charged to you. Contesting the charge is a different matter altogether. I would even go further na service charge should form part of the gross revenues of the restaurant. Kasi nga you impose the charge on the customer. It's like delivery charge. It is still part of revenue, although depending on the business, maaaring main source of revenue yan or maaari din na other revenue lang sya sa income statement. Since part ng sales yng service charge, I would think na pati ito ay covered ng VAT.

    From the point of view of DTI naman, I'm not sure how the law is pero di ba nagkakampanya si Mar Roxas (kahit na wala na sya sa DTI, although mukhang he's using his contacts within DTI para maging visible)... Recently madami ni-raid ang DTI na restaurants.. ang price tag law daw.... yng mga menu ng restaurant should indicate the price.. di pwede yng may ++... not sure kung naka mention sa batas ng price tag law (or any other laws for that matter) that service charge is allowed as a separate charge...

is service charge the same as tip??
