November 10th, 2017 09:31 AM #2i feel that the first 1000 km is the time when the engine sheds off the relatively biggest amount of metal, as the various components seat in.
so yes, i believe in first 1K oil change.
do i have literature supporting my belief?
nope.
but if you mean, will the engine disintegrate a month after, if you fail to do so, probably not.Last edited by dr. d; November 10th, 2017 at 09:34 AM.

What is your car? Honda explicitly (in red ink and all caps big font) states in their manual that 1,000 kms oil change is not necessary.

It's in the manual, depends on the manufacturer.
But I'm stuck in my ways, I just go have it changed.

A lot of vehicles don't require first 1000 kms change oil anymore ... manufacturing technology has improved over the years ...

November 10th, 2017 09:45 AM #9what are these metal particles the engine will shed? you mean wear and tear?
Im planning to get ciaz but the nearest dealer is 500+ kms away from us. Im thinking of skipping the first 1,000 kms change oil. So Im just asking if that first 1k kms change oil is really necessary.
