May 31st, 2015 03:30 PM #3471But if you look on performance level comparing group 3 to group 4 the performance is not that significant on uoas. So to be wise you will not buy expensive group 4.

No argument on that. The oil is good as most claim. It's the way they are presenting the oil as fully synthetic when it is clearly not. Unless they are hiding something, why not just label the oil as semisynthetic or synthetic blend? The oil will sell since it is a good oil with a very good price.

May 31st, 2015 05:32 PM #3473I thini its more of a marketing decision. They can price a little bit more by claiming fully synthetic.
Its the same with organic farming. There are certain rules you need to follow to have the organic seal. Not really 100%

June 1st, 2015 05:55 AM #3477Thats one misconception about oil in the philippines. Mineral, semi less than tenthousand kilometers. Not true. Its dealership gimmick to sell fully synthetic, And dealership oil are not group 4.
Heavy duty truck uses semi-oil for fifteenthousand kilometers
Its not about group2 group3 or group4. Its how well the oil perform when you drive and uoas results. But you dont uoas every oil change. You just feel what makes your car behave at a fraction of the cost. You throw the oil anyway.
Using group4 but using incorrect viscosity will make your car underperform.
To the one asking for price zic 0w30, I usually wait for my shipment of oil coming from singapore. One collegue who went to singapore saw mobil1 dexos rated on a sale and bought lots of it.
But if i cant wait i go to honda and kia. Honda has good oil with choices of correct visco for gasoline engine 10w30 5w30 5w40. Kia has the zic line. Thankfully they dont sell crazy 15w40 thick visco.
Toyota and mitsubishi dealership are crazy. They sell 20w50 for gasoline engine.

Its not a misconception. It is somewhat true.
Conditions like: edsa traffic + bumper to bumper traffic(elevated engine temperature I bet some of you noticed their tempt gauge above normal at times) + 1st&2nd gear acceleration + over 1-2hrs for a 20km journey + say the vehicle is fully loaded(typical pinoy family)
With above conditions, by 5000km your fully synthetic oil life is already up. Hence some guys mention kahit 6000km pa lng they feel their engine is not running smoothly. 10000km oil life is doable only when youre crusing.
Even lube advisors say oil life is half during severe use.

It's in owners manual, severe conditions include heavy traffic and short distance driving. You change oil at 3000 kms.
