September 11th, 2004 05:54 AM #1Hi,
My 1992 Civic's engine got totally screwed and needs to be replaced. I am wondering if we could use a 1994 or 1995 model civic so at least my engine would be newer. Are '94-'95 civic the same engine as the 1992 ones?
Thanks for your help.

why not get a D16 VTEC engine instead? easier to find these days than a surplus D16 non-VTEC one.

yep, i think it's a straightforward swap.
now, if you could get your hands on the previous gen integra gsr or type-r 1.8L engines, i heard that those are straightforward swaps also :dude:

The D15B VTEC surplus engine sold in shops is the JDM version. It is only 1.5L but more powerful than the Local D16 VTEC instyalled on the 96-00VTi.
