April 13th, 2009 05:27 PM #1hi. nabasa kong effective ang carbon fibre driveshafts sa mga rear-wheel drive na sasakyan at sa mga 4x4. pede rin po ba ito sa honda esi ko na front-wheel drive? advisable po ba ito? wala pa kse kong nababasa na ubra to sa front-wheel drive.

CF driveshaft on RWD cars are effective in reducing weight because the driveshaft is a big and heavy object.
FWD cars (like your civic esi) have NO driveshaft to the real wheels, hence... No, you can't have a CF driveshaft mod in your ESi.
You could replace the hood and trunk with a CF or fiberglass version to lighten the weight of the car though. But the CF type don't come cheap.

Let's see... given your current drive-axles are about one foot long, each... and less than an inch in diameter... a carbon fiber mod should save you... five pounds.
Some RWD cars get a carbon fiber driveshaft, but I've never heard of anyone doing carbon fiber drive-axles... for parts that small, I don't think the carbon weave can take the stress. Drive-axles are puny little things. Hell, I've snapped one or two. They're not like driveshafts, which are large, heavy tubes running underneath the car.
Like GH says, go get cosmetic CF, instead.
